This restaurant hasn't oversold its authenticity—a label the chef likely chose to snub the pale Chinese imitations. The food is typically Japanese, a one-way ticket without the 15-hour flight to an izakaya that would have tripled its prices after converting from yen. Frankly, it's a bargain for a slice of Japan served directly on your plate. The sake menu, with its enticing kanji, is perfect for forgetting the melancholy of being so far from the bowing deer and the welcoming irashaimase that greet you as you push open the door of Osaka's pubs.

Without a doubt, the best authentic Japanese restaurant. The owner is as lovely as she is attentive, the dining room is spacious and calm, and the cuisine is inventive and very fresh (the tempura is incredibly crispy). The drinks menu is extensive (at reasonable prices). Undoubtedly one of the best places in the neighborhood (especially compared to the other, rather uninteresting Japanese restaurant on Rue Duguesclin!).

I've already eaten there twice at lunchtime: a small menu of five or six dishes cooked fresh to order by the Japanese owner, who is as welcoming as she is lovely. The ramen soup is very comforting and fragrant (excellent, real, cooked broth) with crispy, very fresh tempura. Truly an excellent place. The drinks menu is extensive and respects the concept of a ramen restaurant where you eat to complement your drinks as much as the other way around. Definitely one of the hidden gems of the 6th arrondissement.

For those who want to taste Japanese cuisine that flirts with bistronomy and moves away from California sushi. We're talking about sea bream steamed with sake or traditional Japanese dishes... I loved the fried soft-shell crab, we let ourselves be guided by menus to finish with sweet touches for dessert like matcha crème brûlée or yuzu cheesecake unless you try the doryakis.
