The meal was very good, and the staff were happy to answer questions, but the service was rushed; we were out in less than an hour. And above all, don't expect any warm service once you've paid. A simple "thank you and goodbye" wouldn't have been out of place after spending a fortune.

Delicious food. I had truly excellent foie gras for the first time. (I don't usually like it that much 😁) The food was absolutely delicious and typical of the region. I was quite full afterward, which was to be expected with such hearty cuisine. The ambiance is fantastic and very inviting. It's cozy and makes you want to linger. Unfortunately, we were seated at a rather cold table. But after asking the server, we were moved to a much better one. The service was good and fast. Excellent! We had a wonderful evening, and I highly recommend this restaurant!

The food was decent, but nothing special: the snails lacked flavor, the ham hock was dry, perhaps overheated, and the sauerkraut was bland. For a Saturday night, there was little time to relax; you had less than an hour to eat a starter and a main course, and the service was rushed. You get the feeling from the start that you'll have to vacate your table quickly. There was no transparency regarding the price of the water, which appeared to be homemade sparkling tap water: €3.50 for 50 cl! A tourist trap, absolutely avoid it!

Maybe it's a matter of taste, but after 4 days in Colmar we've been around, only once did we speak to the reception and they sent us to this place... almost a fixed menu, for desserts you have to get up to read the blackboard, prices out of line compared to all the other places around... we won't be back, the food is nothing special... cleanliness 4

Nice decor, friendly waiters, and good food. However, the value for money isn't great (twice the price)... It's Colmar, they say. And the manager isn't very friendly with her employees, which is a shame because they are lovely.

A quaint and welcoming place. The extremely kind and helpful staff managed to find us a seat during peak hours without a reservation, and there were eight of us! Excellent Alsatian lunch!

Not surprisingly, this restaurant is featured on Lonely Planet: intimate, historic, and welcoming, with incredible food. The staff, though strict, is friendly and helpful with explanations of the dishes. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.

Le Caveau Saint Pierre

05/03/2026: Discovered by chance, an address to keep and share. Generous portions, elegant presentation, warm welcome.
02/03/2026: I love discovering new places, those spots where you can have a great time. The Caveau Saint Pierre is a perfect example. Located on the riverbank, in a traditional Alsatian setting, you're greeted politely and kindly. The cuisine is Alsatian, and we ate a typical local dish that our mothers used to make for us—though not nearly as good—40 years ago (I'll let you do the math on that): vol-au-vent with Alsatian pasta. It was delicious, a rare and precious trip down memory lane. Frankly, while there's an explosion of those cheap, impersonal restaurants trying to convince you that you're going to eat the food of our childhood, come to Alsace and you'll see how refined and flavorful it is. With that, I opted for the amazing Grinch cocktail! And what a surprise the crème brûlée was, made right before your eyes. In short, my sweetheart, with her lovely green eyes, and I adored our meal in this tavern so much that I'm keeping my review serious. It's good, it's effective, everything we love!
