05/03/2026: I have mixed feelings; I was disappointed because the portions were really small! The starter was supposedly a plate of smoked salmon, but it was just about ten small squares of raw salmon swimming in dill, and not even a small salad to go with it! The smoked trout was very good, but for eight people, just a small plate of roasted potatoes was very meager. I went home hungry! The set menus are very expensive for what you actually get on your plate. The service was too slow, even though the manager was friendly: Hire a waiter!! The atmosphere was pleasant, although despite the heater near the table, I was very cold!
09/02/2026: A place I adore and have been coming to for almost 20 years. Because the smoked trout cooked in the fireplace right in front of you is absolutely divine, because the cozy dining room is dimly lit and steeped in history, because the terrace in summer offers a view you won't find anywhere else in Saint Paul. And because the owner, a tall Dane with long blond hair (just as you imagine them!), is the keeper of the many memories of this place, which has a long history. And where I hope to return for many years to come.
