23/08/2026: On Google maps the place is said to be opened until 23:30, the poster on the door says that they are open until midnight. But in fact they were closed already at 22:30 (at least on 04.06.2026; Saturday)

22/09/2026: Went there twice a week apart with my son. We were traveling through Lyon and Hippopotamus was very close to our hotel. I ordered the Steak au Poivre and a beer. My son ordered a specialty burger and a beer. The beers arrived as soon as the waitress had finished taking the order. Wow. This was Sun Sep 13 around 7pm after a long day of travel from Canada. The food came, hot, presented just like the menu showed. We were impressed. The food, service, and the conversation with the waitress was excellent. One week later, Monday Sept 21, 6pm we entered the same restaurant. Why not. It was great the previous week. We were the only ones there at that time and really in no rush to order. I ordered the steak au poivre, and a small salad. My son ordered a burger. My steak au poivre was a disaster. It seemed to have been leftover pieces of beef cooked separately. The slices were chunks of meat, not slices. The fries were just thrown on the plate. The salad was limp, and not fresh. Just terrible. As a foreigner who does not speak French, I decided to just eat some of the pieces of meat and the dry fries since there were pieces of meat that looked ok. When it came to paying the bill I explained that this was not the same as before and not like the picture in the menu. He said...it was not the same chef, but his underling. He did not comp me for the meal. We left.. never again.
The day after my experience, we travelled to Paris. Very bad day, upset stomach and more. If it looks bad, it's bad. So let's call some sort of food poison from a poorly prepared meal by a person who knows nothing about cooking. Lesson learned.
If a restaurant can be so inconsistent in offering the same food, someone needs to be disciplined.
22/09/2026: Everything was fine, but I absolutely must say that while the service was very good for us, four people with severe disabilities had to manage almost entirely on their own and took a long time to find a suitable seat. One quadriplegic had to manage entirely on his own to help another person with a disability and, at the waitress's request, had to park outside and find his own way back in. I am shocked by the lack of empathy and, above all, the lack of assistance. I spoke with them, and they were distressed and upset. We are fortunate enough to be able to walk and move around, and a restaurant (where there was plenty of space on the terrace) should accommodate and move chairs to make room for people who need it!

13/04/2026: A wonderful discovery. Friendly, professional, and attentive service. Excellent cuisine with interesting dishes (kudos for the herbs, the seared tuna, and the cream of asparagus). I highly recommend it! Just the kind of restaurant I love.

05/08/2026: If you’re visiting Lyon and looking for a café with outstanding service and a wonderful atmosphere, this is the place to go.
What truly made this café special was the incredible customer service. The staff were exceptionally friendly, dedicated, and genuinely cared about making every guest happy. They were even willing to customize drinks and food based on personal preferences, even if it wasn’t exactly listed on the menu. That level of flexibility and care is something you rarely find.
The café itself was spotless. Every single table was perfectly clean without a single mark or crumb in sight. The indoor air conditioning made it a comfortable place to relax, especially on a warm day.
The view is another highlight. From the café you can enjoy a beautiful view of a castle with the French flag proudly flying, creating a truly authentic French atmosphere.
The interior design is stylish, modern, and full of French charm. One detail I especially loved was the creative artwork featuring the number “69”—a fun and memorable touch that fits Lyon perfectly.
The location is also excellent. Right nearby there’s a casino if you’re in the mood for some entertainment after your coffee, as well as a clothing store if you’d like to do a bit of shopping.
I would recommend this café to absolutely everyone—tourists, locals, families, friends, couples, and honestly anyone looking for a great place to relax. If cafés could be rated by every species, I’m sure even birds, rabbits, cows, and chameleons would give this place five stars.
Overall, this café combines exceptional service, a beautiful atmosphere, immaculate cleanliness, stunning views, and an excellent location. Without a doubt, it’s one of the places I’ll make sure to visit again the next time I’m in Lyon

18/09/2026: Very good waffles at a good price. The service could be improved, especially the welcome, but otherwise it was fine.
04/09/2026: Disappointing from start to finish.
I really didn't have a good time. The filling was practically nonexistent, the pastry wasn't cooked, and the staff weren't friendly at all. To make matters worse, the kitchen was dirty.
I would have been better off going home without eating... I couldn't even finish my plate.

21/09/2026: Very few elevators for so many people with large luggage and very escalators also.
But lots of stairs.
Very poorly designed.
They need to replace stairs by escalators for people with smaller luggage and elevators for those with large ones.
It's a nightmare if you are old with a large luggage.
20/09/2026: With the current roadworks, it's not fun to get around.
