10/04/2026: The owner is unbearable and treats customers very badly, and the prices are far too high for the quantity. Having ordered savory items, I doubt the freshness of the products.

That's why I don't understand why they were closed last night, February 7th, 2026.

30/12/2025: A surprise birthday party organized with the help of the Balafon team was wonderful! The staff were so dedicated and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The meal was truly excellent, the atmosphere incredible, the room lovely, we had a great time laughing and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Thank you to the whole team! We will happily return when we are in Saint-Étienne. 🎉👌👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤗

In three words: I loved it!
I was pleasantly surprised by the harmony of flavors, the freshness of the ingredients, and the quality of the service. This address is now in my favorites for my trips to the Rhône-Alpes region. I had the Victory menu, and this meal, like the restaurant's name suggests, was a journey of flavors. A big thank you to the staff for the service.
I will be back.

15/03/2026: The staff and service were lovely! We were lucky enough to try the chef's guacamole. The evening and atmosphere were very pleasant, perfect for enjoying ourselves as long as possible!
19/02/2026: What a disappointment - it's a place that's often popular, but the bartender wasn't up to scratch; he simply kicked one of our group out because she wasn't ordering anything - incomprehensible.

The menus are varied and very good.
The servers are very pleasant, courteous, and even have a great sense of humor when the opportunity arises.
I recommend this restaurant.

A bit noisy for having a drink, but that's just my opinion.

11/02/2026: A really nice bar on a pleasant little square in the summer. The bartender and the manager are incredibly friendly and always smiling, chatting with you and creating a great atmosphere. The drinks are very reasonably priced, one of the cheapest in Saint-Étienne.
I recommend it for a night out with friends, especially since you can play darts for free, which can add some fun to an evening...

09/04/2026: In short: a dive bar, a true reflection of Saint-Étienne...
It's not my first time there, and frankly, it's pretty awful. First off, they completely ignore us (a waiter did pay attention to us once, but that must have happened maybe once in nine times), and some of the waiters have no concept of diplomacy. Once you're seated with your beer, you're plunged into a noisy atmosphere polluted by the shouts of teenagers (middle/high schoolers?) who sound incredibly childish... it's like being in a daycare. The icing on the cake: there was a hole in the toilets through which you could see everything, which was covered with a simple poster for about a year.
Why did I give it two stars instead of one? Because the bar is still well-located, there is at least one friendly waiter who knows what he's doing, and the happy hour with €5 pints is a nice bonus.

17/09/2024: If you want to eat a lightly garnished crepe, you've come to the right place. I've never seen such a flat taco! We can also play Where's Charli but with the meat 😂. I don't even understand how it's possible that the rating is so high. As for the fries, I think the oil hasn't been changed for a long time, the taste is terrible.

25/10/2025: I wasn't planning on leaving a comment, but I received an email inviting me to do so.
The owners' or staff's car was parked in front of the terrace, visible from the rooms :/
Strong smell of essential oil at reception and on the upper floors.
The hotel behaves like a hotel chain, with strict cancellation policies (impossible before 3 weeks), a rate for a child of over €30 per night, which we learned about afterward. Nothing less than €17 per person to stay on site for breakfast.
A Wi-Fi connection requiring acceptance of cookies and general terms and conditions, like in large hotels, signed "The hotel team." » while we met an employee, XXL website with a fade-in...
In fact, it's more of a family business, with moderate amenities: no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, in original condition (visible crack in the stairwell on the top floor), unhooked painting with visible clothes rack in the rooms, single shower heads, etc.
Probably in need of a complete overhaul and a good start with alignment between the promise, the image presented, and the services offered.
There's no point in presenting yourself as a large hotel when many people aren't looking for that and appreciate the family atmosphere, provided you have reasonable prices, are a little more flexible and caring, and embody the place.

23/09/2025: I just spent a week at this charming establishment. It was a wonderful discovery, by the way.
What can I say about this hotel? First of all, a big thank you to its owner and her young team. They are ready to respond efficiently and kindly to all your requests (including those you hadn't already suggested). This shows their commitment to customer satisfaction.
Furthermore, the decor is in a chic seaside-family home style. You really feel at home there!
Of course, the cleanliness is impeccable, the bedding is perfect, the parking is private, and some rooms have a beautiful view.
In short, after having a hard time leaving, I can only add: "Can't wait to go back!"
