19/08/2026: What a fantastic discovery! Le Grand Bleu is definitely one of the best restaurants we've visited in Calais. From the very first minute, everything was perfect: a beautiful ambiance, a warm welcome, incredibly friendly and attentive service, and of course, cuisine that truly delights.
The dishes are not only beautifully presented, but their flavors are on a completely different level. Fresh, high-quality ingredients, perfectly balanced aromas, and creative cuisine that still manages to be pleasantly down-to-earth. Every course was a real experience – you can immediately tell that the food is cooked with passion and skill.
We were particularly impressed that, despite the sophisticated cuisine, the atmosphere is pleasantly relaxed and not at all stuffy. This combination is precisely what makes the visit so special.
For us, it's a clear 5-star recommendation and a must-visit in Calais! ❤️ Anyone who enjoys truly excellent food should absolutely not miss this restaurant. We would come back anytime – and Le Grand Bleu will definitely be on our list again on our next visit to Calais!

On this beautiful sunny day in early March, we were able to enjoy our meal while gazing at the blue-green reflections of the sea.

04/09/2026: A little disappointed... We ate well, but there were several drawbacks: this is our second visit, and several dishes listed on the menu were no longer available when we ordered! The chicken "supreme" arrived with a bone... 🤷🏻♀️
It's a shame because the food itself is good, but it didn't necessarily match our preferences... The service was quick and friendly.

As for the food, there's nothing to criticize about the overall quality: the portions are generous, beautifully presented, and expertly prepared, and above all, delicious. The appetizers and main courses were very well done, without necessarily being exceptional. However, we were absolutely delighted with the desserts, which were simply excellent and truly brought the meal to a wonderful close. The setting is also very pleasant.
Unfortunately, the service wasn't up to the same standard. We ordered champagne to accompany the appetizer and a red wine for the meat course, but the red wine was served before the appetizers even arrived, without really giving us time to choose at our leisure. More generally, we missed the attentive service one expects in this type of establishment: no courtesy checks during the course to see if everything was alright, little anticipation, and no offer of coffee with dessert.
These aren't major errors taken individually, but their accumulation results in a rather impersonal, almost mechanical service, when the food and ambiance truly deserve much more attentive attention.
It's a real shame, because you can tell there's excellent cuisine behind it, and we had heard great things about this place. The food was a good experience, particularly the dessert, but the overall experience was unfortunately marred by the service.
