14/03/2026: We came as a family with our three daughters and received an extremely warm welcome! It's not always the case, and it was a real treat. The buffet was really good (better than the large Chinese buffets in the area). I highly recommend it!

24/01/2026: We would like to share our experience upon arrival at the Hotel La Truffe Noire in Brive-la-Gaillarde on Friday, January 2, 2026. We had booked a room by calling the hotel directly and went to reception that same evening to pay for our room. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist who informed us that there were no more spaces available in the hotel parking lot, but that we could park in the city parking lot next door, a two-minute walk away (Parking du 14 Juillet). The receptionist told us that parking was free until 9:00 a.m. the following morning. The next morning (Saturday, January 3), we left the hotel with our luggage to retrieve our vehicle from the parking lot the receptionist had indicated. We were unpleasantly surprised to discover that the city parking lot was occupied by a daily market held every Saturday and that our vehicle had been towed. So we returned to the hotel with our luggage to explain the situation to the morning receptionist, who wasn't the same one who had greeted us the previous evening. The poor, embarrassed receptionist told us she was new to the hotel and hadn't been aware of the market. She said she would do everything necessary to contact the police and the impound service so we could retrieve our vehicle. She apologized profusely, explaining that she hadn't been informed about the market and that her management hadn't told her that vehicles parked overnight from Friday to Saturday would be systematically towed to make room for the market vendors. So, with our luggage, we had to walk to the Brive municipal police station to get our vehicle released. Once the procedure was completed, we had to make our own way to the impound lot that had towed our vehicle to retrieve it (the company that towed our vehicle was located 15 km from the parking lot where our car was parked). The receptionist kindly asked us to send the impoundment bill to the hotel management so they could cover the costs incurred due to their communication error! We personally paid the impoundment fees for our vehicle, amounting to €135 (more expensive than the price of our hotel room). We sincerely hope that the hotel management, well aware of the parking conditions in this lot, will take the necessary steps to reimburse us for the costs incurred due to their communication error, and that they will implement measures to prevent this from happening again! We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the morning receptionist who did everything she could to help us retrieve our vehicle. We would also like to point out that we were not the only hotel guests affected by this information error. January 22, 2026: The "La Truffe Noir" hotel reimbursed me for the parking ticket and impound fees. I would like to thank you for your professionalism and dedication.

12/01/2026: 4* hotel that in some aspects is perhaps overrated. Bathtub without shower screen, toilet bowl, next to a very hot radiator... otherwise good, with a good breakfast, a bit expensive, but like everywhere. Reasonable quality-price ratio. Ideal for a one-night stay.

18/02/2026: As the dishes are served in the restaurant, you can feel the joy rising and conversations unfolding throughout the room, in an atmosphere of shared enjoyment.

15/11/2025: The food is homemade, unlike some other buffets (or at least that's how it appears), but consequently there's much less choice, especially for those who only eat fish. The interior is a bit dated.

12/03/2026: Simple, homemade, hearty, and tasty dishes. A warm welcome, fun decor, and reasonable prices. What more could you ask for? Note: there is a large room upstairs.

23/06/2025: I heard on Julien Courbet's show that this establishment hadn't paid the person in charge of the karaoke, who was owed €8,000... Not very professional, I must say!

20/06/2025: It's great to organize karaoke nights, but you still have to pay the host who went to court and won, but the employers owe him €8,000 and they're liars! I won't give them my money!

24/02/2026: We went there as a group of four, thinking we'd find the daily specials for €10. Of course, they weren't available, supposedly... One of the people with me found a knife point in their dish. We reported it, but the dish wasn't replaced or refunded. Even worse, the owner (who is also the cook) denied there was a knife point. I personally found a thick, dark hair, about 5 cm long, in my omelet. And to top it all off, my coffee was served in a dirty cup (various stains outside and on the counter). I suggested to the cook that it would be wise to put a hairnet in the kitchen, and he replied that he was 62 years old and had never done so, instead of simply apologizing for the incident, especially since I hadn't complained during the meal, given what had already happened. Generally speaking, the food wasn't very good; my porcini omelet barely tasted of porcini, and €18 for that portion is outrageous. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant even if these incidents hadn't occurred.

05/03/2026: I stayed one night for business and was in for a nasty surprise. The room was dilapidated with no soundproofing; I could hear my neighbors talking! The bathroom was practically unsanitary!

04/03/2026: The room for two was exactly as pictured. The welcome was pleasant. We opted for half-board and thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant meal: fresh, homemade dishes at an affordable price and with quick service. We'll be back! 🙂

09/03/2026: Disappointing, had to wait over an hour before food was available. In the meantime our table was reserved for those who had pre booked their food for later in the evening. Their were, as we saw when we were leaving, other tables where we could have eaten outside the designated eating area. It is not a genuine Irish bar but a "canned" version for tourists. This was evident as the TV was used by the disco and the games and darts machines were switched off fr the disco also on a night when Ireland were playing rugby in the six nations. We went to a lovely restaurant across the square and then returned to a genuine Irish bar two doors up from the Shamrock to drink Guinness and enjoy the rugby on their TV.

16/02/2026: There was a karaoke night. It's a family-friendly karaoke place, and I went with my three-year-old daughter—it was my choice, she's my daughter. She was sitting quietly drinking her Coke when a fight broke out. I grabbed her to protect her from getting hit, and the bar manager had the nerve to call me a bad mother and tell me my daughter shouldn't be there, even though she just loves to sing. They'd heard her sing more than once, by the way. So, don't go there with your children, as they're frowned upon. On what's supposed to be a fun night, some people with bad intentions drink too much, and they practically blame it on my child being there—unbelievable! I'm a regular, and I'm very disappointed by this behavior.

27/02/2026: I don't recommend it. I used to go at least three times a week, but since the change of ownership, the prices have gone up and the service has suffered. Today I'm giving it another try. I ordered two "smart menu" meals that used to cost €5, now they're €6.50 (it's gotten worse). I paid €16.90 and noticed they'd given me two large cookies. That's the way it is, so don't be surprised by the drop in customers.

09/03/2026: My partner and I came today and were treated like royalty. Whether it was "the fatso" or "the boss" or anyone else, we had absolutely no complaints about the service. We'll gladly return!

28/02/2026: Ordered a chicken and bacon wrap meal, the salad inside was rotten, a very unpleasant taste! Plus, the hamburger was missing from the drive-thru order. In short, disappointed, unprofessional!
