The soup was watery, with a few pieces of potato, carrot, and leek swimming in it, no beans—it's shameful to even call it garbure. Five small trout from the neighboring fish farm—what a markup and what a tourist attraction when you know that a few grilled smelts or fresh sardines would offer three times the flavor for less. The red wine came in a one-liter bottle with a screw cap, the kind you'd pay two euros for. A slice of sheep's cheese two millimeters thick, and a pseudo-Basque cake made from brioche. They're taking advantage of the Parisian tourist who thinks they're getting something authentic for next to nothing.
