20/07/2026: I rarely leave reviews, but the reception we received from the cashier this past Thursday, July 16th, at 7:15 pm justifies this review. We had called before coming to check the latest opening time, and the person we spoke to confirmed that the fish shop was ready to welcome us. Upon our arrival, the three staff members were already tidying up. The cashier's tone of voice, sighs, facial expression, and overall demeanor made her annoyance obvious. We pointed out that we were the ones who had just called. It made no difference. When my brother, who had gone to park the car, joined us, she asked, "Are there still others arriving?" A customer already seated at a table watched the scene, glancing at us several times, his eyes wide, clearly bewildered by what he was witnessing. When it came time to choose our fish, we asked for advice. We weren't given any real advice. When I mentioned that my brother was the one among us who knew and appreciated fish the most, the first question we were asked was, "So, what's your budget?" There were four of us men. None of us had mentioned any price constraints, and the products offered were mostly priced between 10 and 30 euros. We were simply asking for recommendations on fish. We then chose our fish and placed our order, which also included tarama. We asked for bread to go with it. We were initially told that they were out, that the establishment got its bread from the neighboring bakery, which was going to close, and that it would be "complicated." Someone eventually went to get some, and a first basket was brought to us. While we were eating, we saw the employees eating the same bread. When we asked for another basket, we were told that they were out too. If the team no longer wished to receive customers at 7:15 pm, they simply needed to let us know when we called. We would have come another time. Making us travel there, then making us feel from beginning to end that our presence was a nuisance, constitutes a profoundly disrespectful and unacceptable level of service.

19/07/2026: Incredible!!! We came to Viot simply asking for a takeaway platter, hoping to sample a little bit of everything. We didn't give them many details and trusted them to put together the platter. The restaurant's reputation is clearly well-deserved. The prices are higher than elsewhere, but the quality more than justifies them: it truly rivals that of an excellent gourmet restaurant. Each fish had its own unique character: incredible textures, impeccable freshness, no unpleasant odors or aftertastes, only very refined, delicate, and nuanced flavors. You can tell they've put a lot of thought into the selection, cutting, and combination. Every bite was different, and the whole thing was a veritable feast. It's probably one of the best raw fish platters I've ever eaten. An exceptional experience that I recommend without hesitation.
