28/02/2026: We stayed at the Refuge du Tornieux in Sallanches for a weekend, including one night and dinner.
We were so impressed that we also had lunch there the next day and tried the toboggan run!
Our experience was more than positive from beginning to end!
We hiked up the ungroomed trail, which was magnificent and very well marked! The comments about it are quite amusing; frankly, it only took a little common sense to distinguish between a groomed trail and a snowshoe trail. I don't understand some of the comments about it: everything was clearly marked (taking the time to read the signs can be helpful...) and we had no trouble finding our way; you just need a little common sense. 😬
As for the refuge itself: we absolutely loved it!
The staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and truly delightful. We came with our little dog 🐶 who was warmly welcomed, which was a real bonus for us.
As for the food, we ate exceptionally well, both in the evening and at lunchtime the following day. The dishes were delicious and generous.
In short: everything went wonderfully, it was fantastic! We highly recommend it and will definitely be back!!

28/07/2026: For us, the daily special was €19.50, a nice little medley of things. Not very generous; it's the first time I've ever seen fries in a ramekin...
Everything was good, but we were left wanting more considering the cost of the ingredients. And then a little surprise on the bill: €12 for a pint of Affligem beer?
Initially, we were very impressed by the welcome and the location, but then disappointed by the service and the lack of attention to detail. A good experience nonetheless, thanks to my dining companion and the beautiful terrace!
12/07/2026: The amuse-bouche was a bit light, with three slices of bread so thin that the sauce seeped through. However, the yogurt and cucumber sauce was excellent. The burger was perfect. The chocolate dessert had a very appealing description but was actually quite light, lacking something a bit crispier, for example. The price was a little low for the quality, but overall very good.

12/07/2026: The price displayed was not applied at the register. When you point this out, they tell you that the price you paid was correct. When you remind them that regulations stipulate the price displayed is the price sold, the cashier laughs in your face. No toilet paper in the restrooms…
A first experience I won't repeat.

11/07/2026: Great views…. But after a 1.30 hour trek up to it, to discover it doesn’t accept payment by card/apple, is disappointing! Take a packed lunch and plenty of water… this place won’t sell you any.
18/05/2026: A warm welcome awaited us; the owners are charming, dedicated, and incredibly attentive. Our beds were made (5 adults, 2 children), and there was even a fire waiting for us upon arrival! The food was delicious and satisfying after a hike. We had dinner and breakfast there. The 360° view of Mont Blanc and the surrounding area is breathtaking. I highly recommend this mountain refuge for families.
Thank you to the hosts for these wonderful memories; we will be back!
