27/01/2026: Superb restaurant, quiet, clean, beautiful view. The food is fresh and delicious. Pleasant and fast service! In fact, we've been going here exclusively for years!
But that was before. We came this week (January 2026) and were very disappointed! I'm taking away two stars! First of all, it was very cold in the restaurant; we ate in our down jackets. The fish and chips tasted processed, the filet mignon with mustard sauce had tough meat, and the pizza was okay. Fortunately, the service is still friendly.
27/01/2026: Shameful! We made a reservation at 9:00 AM for 2:00 PM for eight people at this restaurant! We arrived around 1:15 PM for a drink on the terrace. At 1:45 PM, we went to ask if our table was ready, and the owner clearly told us to get lost, saying, "2:00 PM is 2:00 PM!" We returned 15 minutes later, and the table wasn't ready! We waited 40 minutes standing up until a table became available. The waitress repeatedly told me that she was taking payment for a table and that as soon as the other customers left, she would set the table for us. The other customers left, and it should have been our turn, but the owner decided otherwise and sent in a so-called "Eric" whom he must have known! Unacceptable! So we left because we hate being treated like fools! I do not recommend this place! The staff is appalling and dishonest! We wasted an hour and a half of our time instead of skiing, with an already quite expensive lift pass!
First time I've ever left a negative review, but it's well deserved!

11/02/2026: Nice place, warm decor.
We ate well, but I think there are fewer dishes than at the Sporting a few years ago, and the atmosphere is less convivial.
Not enough Savoyard dishes and frozen desserts. Expensive wine bottles. Not enough choice at reasonable prices. A little disappointed.

Authenticity, simplicity, fresh ingredients, real people.
Delicious pizzas.
Even though the price is a bit high, this restaurant is worth it and we recommend it.
A little tip that made us laugh:
A monthly Spotify subscription costs €20 and avoids ads. Just saying! 👀

15/01/2026: A very mixed experience, to say the least. The pizzas were quite sparsely topped for €19… The service was appalling and we were over 30 minutes late… and to top it all off, it was cash only for 10 pizzas…

28/01/2026: With a reservation, don't let your first impression of the bar (which left us perplexed) fool you; behind it lies a lovely restaurant with a warm welcome, perfectly acceptable service, and a very good truffle fondue. We'll definitely be back if we return to Alpe d'Huez.
28/01/2026: This establishment shows absolutely no respect for its customers.
Let me explain: I booked a table two weeks ago because we were really craving a truffle fondue.
I arrived at the restaurant this evening, and it was "exceptionally closed." We received no call to inform us of this closure and were left without any meal options. It's truly disgusting and shows a complete lack of respect for customers.

Fast, efficient, and friendly.
Good, generous portions, and plenty of choice.
Most importantly, remember to book if you want a table.

I've already been to your restaurant three times. I can assure you that your waitress, a blonde woman, spoke to us very, very badly. There was no hello or goodbye, never seen before.
I have nothing against the food, because it was really good.
But your waitress, a woman I think is the owner's daughter, was very angry every time, never smiled, and always put down.
This is the last time. I won't be going back, despite the owner being super, super nice. Nothing to complain about, and the little girl who serves us very kindly too.
Thank you for changing your waitress.

22/01/2026: Overall, the dishes were very appealing visually, but unfortunately the flavors did not live up to expectations. The restaurant seems to be aiming for a bistronomie style, but the execution still needs refinement and more depth.
For example, the lamb was overcooked, served with almost no sauce, and the different elements on the plate did not work well together. We had a similar experience with most of the dishes: pleasantly surprised by their presentation, yet consistently disappointed by the taste. The only exception was the dessert, which was good, although overly sweet.
We also noticed other guests complaining about the cooking of their fish, which suggests this was not an isolated issue.
Finally, the service was disappointing at the end of the meal. The bill was brought to us immediately after dessert, without us asking for it, which made us feel rushed and unwelcome.
Considering the price range and the quality of other restaurants in Alpe d’Huez, Le Génépi was a disappointment

18/08/2024: Got terrible service. The people speaking English in front of us were given a table without a reservation. I asked for a table and the service staff said no. The French people behind us without a reservation were seated. I double checked and again and they said no. We walked back past (after having an excellent meal elsewhere) and the same server recognised us and pulled the door shut in my face. I have travelled extensively and never had such rude and obnoxious service. Put a dampener on our whole trip and totally ruined my impression of French service. Would not recommend. Negative 5 stars for terrible and non-welcoming service…
18/08/2024: Catastrophic! One star for the waiter, however, at €22 for a burger, we say we're in for a treat. To summarize, uncooked frozen fries, burger not at all presentable and tasteless, certainly poor quality products. Worse than McDonald's to flee.

26/08/2024: A big plus for the appetizer which was hummus. Bravo for the initiative.
Be careful with the other dishes, however: the pasta had no taste and was overcooked while the chocolate cake was overcooked inside.
The service was good otherwise.

18/01/2025: Great apres bar 20 yards off the village access green track. Really friendly staff. Gets pretty lively later on too!
11/01/2025: A place with a spectacular atmosphere! There is a pool table, babyfoot, card games, a dart board, and a wide variety of drinks and cocktails... In addition, different spaces to please all types of clients. We went as a family and had a great time! I recommend it 100%
