Le Baron Rouge

Quinze-Vingts, Paris
07/03/2026: Fantastic wine and oyster bar. If you come on a Saturday, and the weather is fine, you'll see the crowd well and truly flowing over onto the street. This is all part of the fun. Don't worry, go inside and you'll be greeted with a smile, order some wines and then pop outside and order some of the most delicious and fresh oysters in Paris....
19/02/2026: A delightful Parisian experience with delicious appetizer platters and wines. Thank you.

Brasserie La Tour

Quinze-Vingts, Paris
20/03/2026: The food was quite good; I ordered a ribeye steak with pepper sauce. We were surprised to receive a ridiculously small amount of pepper sauce, so I asked for a little more. When the bill arrived, I was surprised to find an extra charge for pepper sauce, which the manager justified by saying, "You know that at McDonald's, the sauce is extra." It's not even about the money, but about principle, and this information isn't displayed anywhere. Indeed, all eight of us will no longer be eating here.
20/03/2026: The welcome was good, but the portions weren't very generous for the price. The main problem was the salads; there was far too much lettuce, more than half the bowl... The set menu was overpriced for the quality, €25. In short, I'm not sure I'll be back.

L'Anecdote

Quinze-Vingts, Paris
07/03/2026: Wonderful family restaurant that is very small and quaint. They don’t speak good English but they are very friendly. We had the French Onion Soup, Duck Confit, Escargot, and the L’Anecdote burger. All were cooked well and well spiced. The cheesecake was perfect for desert. Excellent and affordable spot if you are in the area!
20/02/2026: Great little working class cafe with lots of charm and ambiance at reasonable prices. Nothing pretentious. Very authentic.

Amarante

Quinze-Vingts, Paris
18/03/2026: Super nice and professional service. The smoked trout was really good. So was the leg of lamb albeit a bit overcooked.
10/03/2026: A very traditional brasserie, no frills, neither in the decor nor in the minimalist presentation of the food 😅 But that's not why you come here; you come here for traditional French dishes (snails, veal tongue, lamb, sweetbreads, andouillette sausage, lemon crème brûlée, etc.), well-prepared and generously served. A good wine selection. Efficient and friendly service. Given its popularity, reservations seem essential: one weekday evening, three people showed up in succession and couldn't get a table because it was full.

A la Biche au Bois

Quinze-Vingts, Paris
12/03/2026: As a regular at this restaurant, it's always a pleasure to go, both for the quality of the food and for the ever-present good humor and friendliness. Never disappointed! I wanted to introduce it to some friends yesterday, and they really enjoyed it!
10/03/2026: There are restaurants in Paris where you eat well. And then there are restaurants where you eat like you're in a Maupassant hunting novel. À La Biche au Bois clearly belongs to the latter category. Just steps from the Bastille, this establishment has cultivated for decades a style that the capital has almost forgotten: that of the old-fashioned bourgeois inn. White tablecloths, a warm dining room with patinated wood paneling, and a menu so long you could use it as a bedside book. You enter here as if you were stepping into a provincial inn, seemingly placed there by chance, between two buildings in the 12th arrondissement. And that's precisely what makes it so charming. The restaurant has long cultivated a specialty that has become rare in Paris: game. On the menu, roe deer, doe, wild duck, or Scottish grouse serve as a reminder that here, French culinary tradition is not a marketing concept but a true gastronomic hunting ground. My lunch begins with a planter's punch, cheerful and fragrant, accompanied by a small bowl of dry sausage. A simple yet effective touch that I truly appreciate. I choose one of the daily specials, which immediately sets the tone: guinea fowl pâté en croûte with morels and pistachios. The slice arrives large, generous, almost audacious. The crust is golden and crumbly, the filling fragrant. The guinea fowl brings its delicate flavor, the morels their earthy depth, and the pistachios a delightful crunch. Around it, a few crudités and gherkins serve as a tangy honor guard. It's the kind of pâté en croûte that reminds us that French charcuterie is a true art form. In my glass, one of the wines of the month: Esprit Sauvage Pic Saint-Loup 2024 Lambrusques, from the Pic Saint-Loup appellation. It's one of my favorite easy-drinking wines. A typical blend from the Languedoc and Montpellier region, dominated by Syrah and Grenache, it offers just the right amount of dark fruit, spice, and freshness to complement robust dishes. A straightforward, flavorful wine that doesn't try to impress but does its job perfectly: enhancing the pleasure. And then comes the centerpiece: the venison casserole with prunes. The meat is tender, almost confit, coated in a rich, dark sauce. The prunes provide a touch of sweetness that harmonizes beautifully with the richness of the game and transforms the dish into a declaration of love for classic French cuisine. Alongside it sits a homemade mashed potato of almost scandalous sweetness. This dish alone encapsulates the spirit of the establishment: its generosity, its tradition, and its unadulterated pleasure, free from any dietary considerations. After this tour de force, it's time for the selection of matured cheeses. I choose three: a Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, a Bleu des Causses, and a Pont-l'Évêque. A trio that evokes the aroma of a fine aging cellar and reminds us that in France, cheese isn't a mere detail, but an institution. And because we must finish, the all-chocolate plate arrives: a cake smothered in a generous chocolate sauce, accompanied by ice cream. But what truly distinguishes À La Biche au Bois, beyond the food, is the pace of the place. The service is attentive, warm, and never rushed. You can linger at the table for a long time, a very long time even, without ever feeling like you're taking up too much space. And when the bill arrives, around 80 euros for an aperitif, a full menu, cheese, dessert, and wine, I think to myself that Paris still holds a few hidden gems. In an era where many restaurants strive to surprise, À La Biche au Bois does better: it reassures and delights. The food is hearty, the drinks are excellent, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Above all, you leave with the rare feeling of having rediscovered the spirit of the great French inns. Just one piece of advice for your first visit: arrive with a hearty appetite... and set aside the afternoon to yourself.

24/02/2026: Great restaurant, friendly atmosphere, and the fries were delicious. As was everything else, by the way. If I had to recommend a restaurant, it would definitely be this one.
16/02/2026: Nice place, open until 2 a.m. I highly recommend it for Kylian's service. On Valentine's Day, he single-handedly served 150 people, all with boundless energy, a smile, kindness, and a touch of humor. In short, just go for a warm welcome from Kylian! We only ordered dessert, but it wasn't worth the trip; it was frozen!
