27/01/2026: We had a very disappointing experience at El Vicking in Font Romeu regarding food allergies and how the situation was handled. Before ordering, we specifically asked whether the burger contained mayonnaise or any kind of sauce, as one of the children at our table has multiple food allergies. We were clearly told that it did not. However, when the burger arrived, it was served with burger sauce. We immediately asked about the ingredients of the sauce and, for safety reasons, requested a new burger without it. We were even willing to pay again for the new dish. The staff told us they could not prepare a burger without this sauce because “the kitchen process did not allow it,” and suggested ordering something else instead. We asked to speak with the manager to explain our concern. The head of the kitchen came to the table and showed us the ingredients of the bread, but never the ingredients of the sauce — which was precisely the critical part. By that time, we had already ordered a different dish. The situation escalated unnecessarily, the tone became tense, and it created discomfort for the children at the table, especially for the child affected by the allergies. Handling food allergies is a serious responsibility. At the very least, customers must be properly informed about ingredients when they ask. We did not feel supported, understood, or helped in what is a very sensitive and potentially dangerous situation. As regular visitors to the ski resort and members of the ski club, we were very disappointed with how this was managed.
