25/08/2026: After a steep climb of about 100 meters to reach the heart of Montmorency from Soisy/Enghien, my favorite thing to do is settle down on the terrace of the "Cheval Blanc" for a well-deserved refreshment, just enough time to soak up the atmosphere before strolling around.
From the terrace, there's a full view of the Place Roger Levanneur and its lively atmosphere, whether it's market day (Wednesday/Sunday) or not.
And what has always surprised me is learning that the establishment used to settle the bills of impoverished intellectuals and artists in the 19th century by using one of their works.

Efficient and pleasant service.
However, I was a little disappointed by the meal. The bread accompanying the spreads was inedible because it was too hard (the spreads weren't homemade). The spider steak, a very popular meat dish, deserved to be cooked less, and the lentils were undercooked—too dry.
Nevertheless, I will return with a different menu selection.
