13/11/2025: Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. I saw good reviews about it, but it has nothing to do with Portuguese food, as you can see in the photo.
The meat was overcooked, and the crème brûlée dessert was far from being the same.
The service was quick and very friendly.

25/01/2026: The best pastry shop in Grenoble. For the past six years, I've ordered my children's birthday cakes from them. The pastry chef, Mr. Alexandre, is the best. He made cakes that were magnificent in decoration and delicious inside. I highly recommend this pastry shop. You tell them how you want your cake, and they make it exactly as you envision it.

13/03/2026: The price-quality ratio is very inflated (74 euros for the set menu). The starter was decent, the fish (sea bass) was cold, undercooked, and poorly prepared, the gratin was acceptable, and the dessert was good (in my opinion). You pay more for the panoramic view and setting than for the food! Very disappointed 😞
24/12/2025: I saw a report on Père Gras on TV. When you see the dishes with the glaze missing, it's unappetizing. We're happy to eat gratin, but not with glaze on them. Frankly, it's shameful.

19/03/2026: Since the owner left, the service has been more than disappointing; the young man at the till is very rude, and the kitchen staff is even worse. When I ordered a kebab, there was more sauce than meat, and the fries were a measly ten or so. Frankly, it was disappointing for the price.
07/03/2026: Excellent service, a great place to recommend, and very welcoming.

08/03/2026: We took a pastry class with Chef Pierre. It was a wonderful time making a raspberry and passion fruit cream and a Black Forest cake. The atmosphere was filled with sharing, generosity, and a very warm welcome.
I highly recommend it.

22/02/2026: Patisserie La Foret Noire is next to the Market Hall and the Tourist Office in downtown Grenoble. Good selection of pastries and affordable prices.

I don't think you can get any colder or more unpleasant than that.
It was too much to ask to place your order at the register.

09/03/2026: Very disappointed. Eating in at Paul's will cost you more than 10% of what you eat, and all that just for a salad in a cardboard container and a Perrier in a plastic bottle. The reason for this extra charge? The dishes on the tray—unbelievable! In short, it's better to eat elsewhere; the food is just as good, and I get a free meal when I eat in!
21/02/2026: We ordered cappuccinos to go and received lattes instead! If you can't make proper milk foam, you should just tell customers there isn't any rather than trying to sell you something for the sake of selling. Frankly, I've had cappuccinos at other Paul bakeries and the quality was impeccable. If you go there, definitely order a cold drink and avoid the coffee!
