20/09/2024: We had an extremely disappointing and infuriating experience at Via Roma in La Rochelle. After driving all day from the south, we stopped around 7:15 pm to have dinner. From the moment we arrived, the servers were rude. When I inquired about a specific dish, the waiter sarcastically responded, “Why would you have that?” He then switched our waitstaff, claiming he didn’t speak English. Meanwhile, he had no problem chatting and playing with a passerby’s dog. Our new server, a young lady, was polite and took our orders: one Caprese salad, spaghetti Napolitana, one wine, and one beer. The spaghetti was terrible, but since we had to drive to Carnac, we ate a little to settle our stomachs. Earlier, we had a starter at a nearby seafood place that only served small plates, which is why we came here hoping for a full meal. We were seated at table 6 outside, and our bill came to 42 Euros. However, we were told to pay inside at the register, and they refused to accept our credit card. They swiped my card, and we left. Shockingly, when I returned home and reviewed my bank statement, I discovered they had charged my card $333. The restaurant claimed to my bank that this was the correct amount, which is utterly absurd. We spent just 25 minutes there, dissatisfied with the food and service. We left in a hurry and didn’t get a receipt, only realizing the scam after checking our statements. Despite providing photos of our time there, the bank refused to help us recover our money, saying the charge was justified as we handed our card to be swiped. This establishment has essentially robbed us of our hard-earned money for a terrible dining experience. Tourists, please beware: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! Do not use your debit or credit cards here—pay cash if you must go. No one answers the phone or responds on their Google page. This restaurant is a complete scam. Save yourself the trouble and stay far away from Via Roma!

11/09/2024: Restaurant atypique : Ancien garage transformé en restaurant, très agréable, personnel sympathique, souriant et très avenant. Plats variés, copieux et bien présentés. Nous avons passé un très bon moment. Bref un moment sympa dans un cadre tout aussi sympathique.

17/08/2024: L’accueil n’était pas agréable, le service médiocre. Nous avions demandé à baisser le store à cause du soleil, quand il a bougé toute l’eau contenue sur la bâche est tombée sur nous et dans nos plats. Aucune aide n’a été proposée de la part de la patronne, et aucune excuse n’a été présenté pour l’accident qui a eu lieu. Les plats n’ont pas été remplacés après être retournés en cuisine, l’eau avait simplement été retirée.

03/01/2025: Avons découvert un midi et y sommes revenus le lendemain soir !! Accueil très chaleureux les deux fois Pizzas le midi excellentes Couteaux en persillade succulents Linguines thon rossini et lubgyines gambas rossini excellentes et généreuses Personnel très souriant et très disponible Nous recommandons

23/12/2024: Très cher et qualité moyenne. Moules entre 17 et 23€ servies sans frites ni salade. Accueil relativement froid. A éviter.
