20/05/2026: Great restaurant just steps from the town hall. A very nice menu, featuring excellent products. Pleasant and efficient service. For an excellent meal for three, including aperitifs and glasses of wine (a nice touch) if you don't want to order a bottle or if a single wine doesn't suit everyone, the total cost was €160 for a starter, main course, cheese, and dessert. But the price was well worth it, plus the staff were pleasant and smiling, even though we left late.

Culinary Highlights The combination of hot and cold components on the plates was especially impressive. This unique combination showcased the restaurant's creative and modern cuisine. The wine pairings were very well chosen and harmonized perfectly with the dishes. Service Experience What we found took some getting used to was the staff's attitude—there weren't really any smiles. However, the chef de partie was very friendly and frequently asked how we were enjoying our meal. This attentive service rounded off the experience positively. Conclusion Au Carillon Gourmand impresses with its refined, modern French cuisine in an elegant setting. Despite minor shortcomings in service, the restaurant is definitely recommended due to its outstanding food and thoughtful wine pairings.

30/05/2026: The food is consistently good quality and the dishes are beautifully presented. The menu prices are consistent with the quality of the food. The drinks are a bit pricey. The only downside was the long wait for the food (the waitress explained that they are currently looking for an additional kitchen employee but are finding it difficult to recruit).

23/05/2026: In 2024: My wife wanted to return, and we were disappointed. It's good, but it lacks that little something extra they had a few years ago. Only the desserts remain very good. And frankly, the presentation of the steak needs improvement. And asking for 50 cents for a doggy bag made me smile. In 2020: A new experience that, for the first time, disappointed us. There were six of us, and we all agreed that the starters and main courses were "simple." Personally, my starter was too cold for the red mullet to shine, and my main course wasn't hot enough. The dessert was excellent and earns it a fourth star. In 2017: We returned to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. All the guests were delighted. Still one of the best restaurants in Châlons. The Scandinavian-style decor is very nice, the welcome was perfect, as was the meal. In 2013: A delightful surprise! I'd known this restaurant for years, having walked past it, and last night I decided to have dinner there. It's true that the long, narrow layout of the dining room is unusual, and the color scheme isn't the most harmonious, but overall, the decor is pleasant. Four different menus are available to satisfy even the most discerning palates. We chose the "terroir" menu at €26, which included a starter, main course, cheese, and dessert. A great place to eat; I plan to return regularly during my stays in Châlons-en-Champagne.

We found the price-quality ratio to be highly recommended. We also had to choose our dessert immediately, but didn't find this a problem at all. We will definitely be back.

22/11/2025: I've ordered several times since the new owner took over, and the food is still just as delicious, whether you order takeout or eat in. The wait time was practically nonexistent on my last takeout order!
