Astoux et Brun sur Cannes

Super fresh and delicious seafood. Great casual setting and excellent service

We dine here on every trip to Cannes. Oysters are delicious. Would recommend.

Came here for lunch and didn’t need a reservation. The meal started off with complimentary bread and periwinkles. It was fun to try the periwinkles, but wasn’t the best thing I’ve eaten. For appetizers, we got the sea bream ceviche and a tasting platter with shrimp, oysters, and whelk. My husband didn’t like the sea bream ceviche, but I enjoyed the texture and flavors, and it was refreshing with the fruit slices. The tasting platter was fun - the oysters weren’t my thing, but the whelk was tasty! For my entree, I got the monkfish. It had an interesting texture with a little bit of a bite. I really enjoyed the sauce (I think it was supposed to lobster bisque), and the broccoli soaked up the sauce deliciously! My husband got the sea bass, but he wasn’t a fan of it. I thought the texture was soft and tender, but didn’t like the sauce very much.

Wonderful atmosphere, good food, excellent service, but maybe a little bit overhyped. I arrived with great expectations, waited for about 45 minutes to get a table (not complaining at all!). The oysters were absolutely magnificent, but the mains were good enough, as they lacked seasoning, but to give credit where credit is due, the fish was soft, tender, and fresh. Just kind of bland. And I know some people prefer it that way, to taste every nuance without compromise, but for the the Couscous de Poissons, the poissons tasted kind of the same. Not saying bad, but just... underwhelming. To top it all off, I would definitely visit again! PS, get the Chablis, it is to die for ;)

The raw seafood was excellent and very fresh, especially the oysters, of which there was a good selection. The dish of the day was good, with a rather pleasant fish and mushroom combination. The seafood couscous was also good, although for our taste it was too full of vegetables, which we skipped. However, we thought it was a bit risky to call a berry mousse with a couple of biscuits at the bottom a "tiramisu." The dessert was good, but not a true "tiramisu." The service was quick but discreet; even though there were people waiting outside, they didn't pressure us to leave. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and the type of restaurant.

Located on one of Cannes' central promenades, this restaurant offers excellent quality seafood, both raw and cooked. We visited on a June evening; the restaurant was quiet, but the wait was reasonable and well worth it with the excellent dishes, in our case, raw oysters, shrimp, and sea snails, and the bouillabaisse fish soup. The service was excellent, as was the bill.

We ate here tonight with friends. Excellent service, lovely staff, very helpful and pleasant, and the seafood was delicious – it was fresh and you could taste it. We'll be back!!
