Auberge du Ried sur Erstein

We were extremely disappointed with our meal this evening. We are regular customers of this restaurant and, until now, we have always had a very good meal. Unfortunately, this time it was a complete disaster. I ordered a warm goat cheese salad, but the salad was clearly not washed: there was sand in it, it was truly disgusting. My sister-in-law had the same problem with her salad. She had also ordered potato pancakes, which are normally served with bibeleskaes (a type of cheese), but she never received it. My brother-in-law, meanwhile, had chosen a cordon bleu with cream sauce. The meat was undercooked. The waiter took it back to the kitchen, but it came back still undercooked. We appreciated the waiter's gesture of offering us the cordon bleu for free, but unfortunately, it doesn't make up for the overall experience. The setting remains as pleasant as ever, and the restaurant is very well located, which makes this disappointment all the more regrettable. The waitress seemed overwhelmed or uninvolved, and my brother-in-law's beer arrived in an overflowing glass. It's a real shame, as we used to enjoy coming here. We sincerely hope it was just an off night and that some things will be addressed, because this restaurant has real potential.

I stopped going to this restaurant for a long time after a bad experience: I ordered a salad without prosciutto, which unfortunately arrived with it. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she removed the prosciutto along with my cutlery and put it on my partner's plate, who had ordered fish. The scene completely surprised and embarrassed us, and I hadn't been back since. Recently, I decided to give the restaurant another chance after hearing that there had been a change of management, hoping also not to encounter that waitress again. Against all odds, this new visit went very well. The wait was admittedly quite long, but the food was very good and the service pleasant. Overall, a positive experience this time.

Passing through Erstein, we had a wonderful meal and received a very warm welcome on the terrace at the inn. The tarte flambée was excellent. We returned the next day at lunchtime to try the cordon bleu. Generous portions. Please be patient with the waiter and the chef who do everything they can to ensure your satisfaction. There is a bit of a wait, admittedly. Impatient customers, this isn't the place for you! It's the holidays! We have time! 😊 Very nice shaded terrace!

The service and welcome were very good, however the menu needs to be updated as several dishes and desserts are no longer prepared by the kitchen (the waitress had to go back and forth 3 times to tell us this). In the end, it's frustrating!
