Very busy and commercially minded. A very impressive building that has been very well renovated (sometimes a little too well)

Precious.
♿ It has wide cobblestone streets and ramps. Except for the paid area (within the walls) where there are stairs, the rest can be enjoyed in a chair or with other disabilities.
There are bathrooms before entering the castle on the left hand side for free but with stairs, and inside without stairs.
Inside the fortress there are many souvenir shops, places to eat a crepe, ice cream or a menu or have a drink. The atmosphere is very calm, the castle is truly beautiful and very well preserved and you have parking 5 minutes away for €1/h the most expensive, or you can leave it in the surrounding area for free. We paid €3.5 to spend the entire afternoon watching it.
Take photos from the bridge, the panoramic view is brutal.
Highly recommended for couples, families, or alone. Amazing place!

Very beautiful city, we go there every evening, because our hotel is right next door. Very good restaurants, the shopkeepers are all kind and don't push you to buy, so you can think and come back.

City of Carcassonne
The Cité de Carcassonne is an iconic medieval fortress located in the city of Carcassonne, in the Aude department, France. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, it is famous for its impressive walls, which stretch for approximately 3 km and feature 52 towers.
History
Construction of the Cité began in the 12th century under the Trencavel family and has played a strategic role throughout history, especially during the Albigensian crusade at the beginning of the 13th century. Its military architecture is an outstanding example of the medieval style, and offers panoramic views of the surrounding plain.
Attractions
Visitors can explore its cobbled streets, shops and county castle, while discovering its rich and complex history dating back more than 2,500 years.
Conclusion
The Cité de Carcassonne is not only a testament to medieval architecture, but also a vibrant place full of history and culture, ideal for those seeking a unique experience in France.

Spectacular medieval city that is worth a visit but with increasingly overcrowded tourism.

Wonderful, several people had already told me how pretty it was, but when you see it with your own eyes, it is even prettier.
