La Pergola is the casino where my wife and I first played, brought by our friends Norbert and Elisabeth, who lived on Rue de la République at the time. For a first try, it was a resounding success. Furious at having lost, I threw my last few coins into a machine. I won enough to buy my wife a superb pair of handmade red espadrilles, which she had been wanting, and I treated everyone to the restaurant "La Banquise," if I'm not mistaken, where the four of us shared a delicious and generous seafood platter. Amazing! René

A lovely, warm welcome! Great advice and support for our first time playing slots together as a girls! Thank you 😊 We had a great laugh! The food was also excellent, and there was a good selection of wines from the Southwest. A wonderful, fun half-day with the girls.

I was delighted to receive 8 individual meals for the Joa restaurant, so I made a reservation today, Sunday, for two people, clearly stating that my meal was free. When I got to the till, what a surprise when I was told that Sunday meals aren't free (what a lack of information!). That's how you get ripped off. I paid for the meal, but if I had been informed, I would have come during the week. I'm not making a big deal out of two meals; I'm used to that. But with this review, I'm informing others, since nothing is mentioned. I'm Eliane Lefeuvre, and I sent this review with my daughter, Virginie.

The atmosphere and staff were very friendly, always welcoming with a smile, but the same can't be said for the machines. They were very unreliable, which is a real shame because you don't have much fun and are forced to leave. Many thanks again to the staff for their kindness. Sincerely

22/05/2026: Nice restaurant with a beautiful view, good food, however, not all the products are French, which is a shame. Also, the tables are close together, like in a bistro. Finally, a bit pricey... you're paying for the view.

Le Bar Basque Saint Jean De Luz

04/06/2026: We came to the Basque Country for our honeymoon, as it's where we got engaged. We arrived late in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and went to the first place we saw. We know it's almost impossible to find a bad place to eat in this region anyway. However, we didn't expect this place to completely exceed our expectations. The staff was warm and welcoming from arrival to departure. We ordered a starter and a main course, but we couldn't resist their desserts. Every bite was perfect. The next day, we couldn't stop thinking about Bar Basque. We returned the following night. We were greeted a second time by the staff and then tried the other dishes they had on offer. Again, the food was incredible. I think it might be the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience first-class hospitality and delicious food. Thank you all for being part of our honeymoon. We'll be back!
30/05/2026: This was a really exceptional meal. Staff were fantastic, especially the guy who served us and the food was top class. The cherry basque cake they served was a stand out along with the chorizo croquettes. We sat outside but there seemed to be a great atmosphere
