Charbonnel sur Brantome

The overall stay was satisfactory. A minor drawback was the surrounding noise (traffic and neighbors), as well as the lack of a welcome tray with a kettle and some tea/coffee bags, which would have been a real plus. Otherwise, the hotel is very well located and close to the free Henri IV parking lot!

The hotel was well located – thankfully. We opted for a superior room at €140 per night, with breakfast at €20 to keep with the theme. The room was clean... provided you didn't look too closely at the generously stained carpet. The bathroom, delightfully frozen in time with its candy pink decor, offered the added bonus of peeling tiles in front of the sink. A certain charm, no doubt. The price, however, is firmly rooted in the present... and rather ambitious considering the amenities. As for breakfast, it was adequate but meager; we had to wait until the second day and a buffet to get anything close to what one might expect at this price. On the other hand, dinner at the hotel restaurant was very good with impeccable service. It's a shame the hotel itself doesn't live up to this standard.

The Superior room we booked was not in any way superior. The hotel feels very dated, having none of the chic that we experienced around the region in other hotels on our week tour. We stayed in far better rooms in far better hotels for a lot less, therefore this felt disappointing. The room was bland, consisting of white wood chip walls and grey furniture- the wardrobe looked like Draculas coffin! There was a telephone in the room but no tea or coffee facilities. Why put a phone in a room but not a kettle or a coffee machine? That’s not very superior. The bathroom was also bland, but clean. The shower had no power, just a trickle. Disappointingly, the river tranquil view was spoiled by traffic noise.

Thank you for this delicious experience. Rose was very pleased with her meal, thanks to the attentive service of the head waiter.

Between Christmas and December 30, 2025, we stayed at this hotel and dined twice at the hotel restaurant, "CHABROL." We greatly appreciated the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. The restaurant is truly gourmet, and the dining room overlooking the Dronne River is spacious and very pleasant. Pets are welcome.
