I am giving this a three stars because of the service. The food was great, I loved the sardines en entrée and my steak au poivre for the main dish. I, however thought that the waitress seemed a bit clipped in her responses to me and my family.

Tasty but expensive dishes. Thin slices of squid in tomato sauce for €14 and a slice of hake, admittedly well prepared but with very limited sides, for €27! Furthermore, the wine prices are exorbitant.

I came this summer and really enjoyed the food, especially the appetizers, which were quite generous. The only downside was that the restaurant was a bit noisy. What a disappointment yesterday. I didn't rediscover the magic of the cuisine, and the noise in the restaurant was almost unbearable. As for the price, the albacore tuna at €33 was a bit exaggerated (the price isn't displayed, it depends on the market). The wine prices are also excessive. A shame...

Restaurant Txalupa

23/11/2025: Unbeatable location in Place Louis XIV. We went with high expectations and the team at La Txalupa delivered. We started with a textbook Foie Gras: perfect texture and intense flavor. But the undisputed star is the Sole Plantxa (Sole). At €38 a dish, you expect quality, and they certainly delivered; fresh product, treated with absolute respect. Honorable mention to the wine (Gascogne Big Blc), a fantastic discovery for €22 that pairs beautifully with the fish. The service was surprisingly attentive and efficient for a tourist spot. The only downside: €5 for half a liter of Vittel water seems like highway robbery, but we forgive them for the final Gateau Basque. Recommended if you want quality and don't mind the price.
10/11/2025: A fantastic find at the end of October; everything was perfect, from the welcome to the dessert. A very warm welcome, a beautiful restaurant, a delicious meal with high-quality ingredients—what more can you say when everything is perfect, except that we highly recommend it!
