Chez Maya - Le Petit Grill Basque sur Saint-Jean-De-Luz

I'm from Saint-Jean-de-Luz and I regularly eat at several restaurants in this beautiful town. I'm tired of seeing disparaging comments about the work of passionate restaurateurs. These people simply aren't "suited" to these places, so they can't judge the work objectively. We go to Le Petit Grill to: open our minds to wines we don't find at Nicolas, enjoy generous traditional cuisine and specials we won't find anywhere else (traditional Arroz, for example), and experience an atmosphere that takes us back a few years (I used to come to this restaurant for dinner 20 years ago with my parents, and my memories are still vivid) thanks to this new team. The noise is typical restaurant noise; for silence, there's the library. Thank you, and long live Le Petit Grill!

We ate very well, the staff were efficient, but I won't be back. The dining room is very noisy and makes you appreciate the food so much...

I am giving this a three stars because of the service. The food was great, I loved the sardines en entrée and my steak au poivre for the main dish. I, however thought that the waitress seemed a bit clipped in her responses to me and my family.

Very good but a little... Revuelto at €18 and tuna with onions, excellent, but at €33 isn't that a bit pricey?

Excellent lunch with a wide selection of suggestions. The sardines from Safi were superb. A lovely wine list with some great vintages!

Tasty but expensive dishes. Thin slices of squid in tomato sauce for €14 and a slice of hake, admittedly well prepared but with very limited sides, for €27! Furthermore, the wine prices are exorbitant.

Everything was perfect! Warm atmosphere, absolutely delicious and local dishes!
