I absolutely fell in love with **Le Petit Grill Basque**, on Rue Saint-Jacques in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. The cuisine is authentic, generous, and perfectly executed, showcasing Basque products with great finesse. The welcome is warm, the setting has retained all its charm, and every dish exudes a passion for the craft. It's easy to see why this restaurant is a favorite among many Michelin-starred chefs. Fantastic discovery! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves from start to finish. The dishes are excellent, generous, and prepared with high-quality, ultra-fresh ingredients. The staff is truly welcoming, friendly, and attentive, offering excellent advice on wine pairings. I've read some negative reviews… and yet, top chefs in the culinary world come here regularly!

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was delicious. The sardines were particularly noteworthy—excellent and unique—and the strawberry and cherry sorbet dessert was exceptional. The service was very friendly. The place is charming and small. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a very noisy group spread across several tables, including many children (11 in total!), which made conversation difficult. I'll be back very soon!

An authentic Basque restaurant with impeccable service, where the waiters take the time to explain each daily special. For me, a visitor and not from the area at all, Le Petit Grill Basque is a hidden gem that keeps its secrets well hidden, and one I would be delighted to return to. I thoroughly enjoyed everything from the appetizer to the dessert, including one of the best floating islands I've ever had.

11/08/2026: Le Fandango is THE must-visit restaurant in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. The quality-to-price ratio is unbeatable. You'll enjoy mussels marinière, prawns, rib-eye steak, and more in a warm, family atmosphere and a unique setting. The staff at this establishment is top-notch. The waiter, Julen, will make you feel right at home and take care of you like no other waiter in Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
08/08/2026: While searching for a typical lunch spot, we stumbled upon this restaurant, and we weren't disappointed. The staff was incredibly friendly. The tapas and main course were excellent, and the value for money was unbeatable. The waiter eventually convinced us to try his Basque cake, and we were so glad we did.

Ocean Coffee Bar

24/03/2026: Highly recommended! Very friendly, young, and dynamic staff, the food was delicious and alternative, and the atmosphere was very relaxed and inviting. Even with the door open, the music masks the outside noise (cars, mopeds), and the pleasant salsa tones in the background aren't intrusive, creating an almost nostalgic South American flair. The unisex restrooms are very clean by Lucerne standards. We were lucky; the sun was shining, and there were many guests sitting outside on the terrace. There's a bench on the other side of the large front window. It's like meeting a friend for coffee or a light snack. All the prices are perfectly reasonable, and a balanced lunch in the sun with a delicious espresso is pure bliss. We had a few coffees (cappuccino, long coffee, decaf espresso) and a slice of their homemade orange cake. We left around 12:30 because of our departing train, but the bodega was already filling up with lunchtime guests. I felt transported back to my student days and reminded of my time living in a shared apartment 😍 Everyone was welcome, from young to old 😉 We were even greeted by a lovely canine guest. It was a very pleasant surprise to discover this little sunny bodega just around the corner from the train station. Five stars in every way! 👍😎
