Le Bar Basque Saint Jean De Luz sur Saint-Jean-De-Luz

We came to the Basque Country for our honeymoon, as it's where we got engaged. We arrived late in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and went to the first place we saw. We know it's almost impossible to find a bad place to eat in this region anyway. However, we didn't expect this place to completely exceed our expectations. The staff was warm and welcoming from arrival to departure. We ordered a starter and a main course, but we couldn't resist their desserts. Every bite was perfect. The next day, we couldn't stop thinking about Bar Basque. We returned the following night. We were greeted a second time by the staff and then tried the other dishes they had on offer. Again, the food was incredible. I think it might be the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience first-class hospitality and delicious food. Thank you all for being part of our honeymoon. We'll be back!

This was a really exceptional meal. Staff were fantastic, especially the guy who served us and the food was top class. The cherry basque cake they served was a stand out along with the chorizo croquettes. We sat outside but there seemed to be a great atmosphere

A great spot with a friendly atmosphere, lively with both regulars and tourists. Known even in Paris for its legendary cocktails, like the Macca (a must-try!), the bar offers regional cuisine made with local products... and the portions are more than generous. Always packed, the establishment provides excellent service and knows how to cultivate a loyal clientele. A "must-try" in the Basque Country!

Absolutely fantastic! The service was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and friendly. The daily specials were all fresh and market-sourced, with carefully selected local vegetables and meats chosen each day. The atmosphere was pleasant and lively. The prices were reasonable. The wine cellar was excellent. I don't understand the negative reviews.

We arrived for lunch at 3:00 PM and despite the late hour, the service was excellent. They told us it would take a while, but it didn't take long at all; the service was high-quality and very efficient. We didn't even wait an hour to eat. A special thank you to "Visi," an excellent waitress with a wonderful personality!

Great food and very attentive service, plus they have a lovely waitress who speaks Spanish! I'll be back 👌🏼
