The waitress was pleasant, but we were disappointed because we were seated upstairs while the room by the fireplace was empty. We ate next to the restrooms, even though the upstairs room was also empty. We decided to try the Gelat menu. The Truffade was bland.

The owner/waitress is very friendly.

Back on Thursday, February 5th, with friends from the Charente region, I was determined to show them this charming restaurant nestled between the medieval village of Besse and Lake Pavin, practically at the foot of the Superbesse ski slopes.
Of course, I introduced them to the must-try dish, truffade. It's absolutely delicious here, but there are other tasty dishes to suit all tastes.
I love this place. I love the warmth of the dining room, typical of old Auvergne farmhouses. I love the quality and friendliness of the service provided by the farm owner and her husband in the kitchen.
Honestly, before or after your trip around Lake Pavin, make a detour to La Ferme du Gelat for a truly unique experience with friends and/or family. You'll leave thinking, "I'll be back as soon as possible." Sometimes, you just have to seize the moment.

This is the sixth time I've taken friends to eat at La Ferme du Gelat, ideally located between the medieval village of Besse, Lake Pavin, and the ski slopes of Suoer Besse. I'm taking the time this time to leave a review because we've always had such a wonderful meal there. The truffade is excellent, as are other Auvergne specialties. We love the warm atmosphere of this place; the service is impeccable and attentive, with smiles all around. It feels like a family setting, and it's so nice to get together with friends around a good meal. These are the little moments of sharing that we need to appreciate in a world that feels so fragmented. We'll definitely be back because stopping at La Ferme du Gelat after visiting Besse and a short hike to Lake Pavin is an absolute delight. There are simple things that we need to take the time to savor.

Great setting, under the pavilion, very rustic; you pass through the old fireplace between the bar and the restaurant!
We ate very well; I had the potée, a real treat! I highly recommend this restaurant.
