Jardin Mazarin sur Aix-En-Provence

This was one of the best experiences we had in a restaurant since we’ve been in France, (for the last three weeks). The service was impeccable - Joseph gave us great suggestions for what to choose for dinner. The food was beautifully served, and so delicious. The ambience of the restaurant is also quite charming with an interesting selection of photographs. We had a perfect evening in Jardin Mazarin.

Jardin Mazarin was highly recommended by our tour guide, and it turned out to be a wonderful suggestion. It’s conveniently located about two blocks from Cours Mirabeau and our hotel, Hôtel Roi René. They open at 6:00 p.m., which is earlier than many of the French restaurants in the area—very convenient for those of us who prefer an earlier dinner. The atmosphere is elegant, while the service was helpful, polite, and friendly. They even seated us earlier than our reservation time. There are plenty of tables, so they seem to be able to accommodate walk-ins as well. Dress is casual to business casual. I ordered the Seabass Special, and it was perfectly cooked with wonderfully crispy skin, just the way I like it. It was served with fennel and mashed potatoes, which complemented the fish beautifully. My spouse ordered the ravioli with a black truffle center. The sauce was unbelievably delicious! We both thought the pasta was a little more al dente than we prefer, but the flavors were excellent. For dessert, we shared the Baba with pistachio cream and pistachio ice cream. It came with a little plastic bulb filled with rum that you squeeze into the cake before eating it. It was absolutely heavenly! The portions were generous, the food came out quickly, but we never felt rushed. Overall, Jardin Mazarin was a fantastic recommendation and a restaurant we would happily return to.

A very fine lunch, attentive service, and a lovely setting with an old-fashioned ceiling. Please, for next time, to please my wife, a good quality sweet wine like Beaumes-de-Venise would be a welcome addition. The one offered was nothing like it. Thank you, and see you next time.
