La Calèche sur Chamonix-Mont-Blanc

A very warm and friendly welcome, an enticing menu, quality cuisine, and a cozy atmosphere. It's spacious, yet still manages to feel intimate. It was delicious.

My children and I were in Chamonix to celebrate my upcoming 60th birthday! Our dinner at La Caleche was our only reservation. We thoroughly enjoyed the raclette & fondue!

Excellent cuisine. Excellent dish. The decor was sublime, vintage. The only downside was the service. The waitress was barely smiling and unfriendly; we felt like we were bothering her. A shame, a real shame for such good food.

The experience was, regrettably, underwhelming—especially considering the €300 price tag. The cuisine was, at best, mediocre and failed to justify the cost. We opted for the grilled meat platter served over a heated surface; however, the meat was excessively watery and bubbling in an unappetizing manner, which detracted significantly from the overall quality. The only truly commendable dish was the filet mignon, which was prepared to an acceptable standard and stood out amid an otherwise average selection. The service left much to be desired. Our waitress accidentally spilled Coca-Cola on my friend’s phone and demonstrated minimal accountability. She neither assisted in cleaning the device nor offered a sincere apology, effectively leaving us to manage the situation ourselves—though she did replace the spilled drink. Additionally, when I attempted to help her during service, the gesture went unacknowledged, which further contributed to the disappointing impression. On a positive note, the ambiance was undeniably charming. The establishment boasts a warm, intimate atmosphere with an aesthetically pleasing and cozy interior, which was perhaps the most redeeming aspect of the evening. Overall, while the setting shows promise, both the culinary execution and level of service fall short of what one would reasonably expect at this price point.

Beat raclette we ever had , very tasty food and welcoming atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming . This restaurant has clearly put care into every detail, from the menu to the overall experience. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal.

Dinner was delicious, place is lovely, unfortunately our waiter by the “cave” area (near the toilettes) was VERY rude. He was bringing everything with a very bad attitude and more than two times clasped the glasses and plates on the table (like throwing them at us) It was our Valentine’s Day dinner, we didn’t want to make a scene and ruin our nice time due to someone’s bad mood. But that behavior is not acceptable specially in a place like that.

La Calèche was a lovely first restaurant to visit on our ski trip to Chamonix — a gorgeous setting that felt warm and inviting, with really great service. The foie gras was nice but very rich, my partner’s soup was delicious, and the fondue was the centrepiece: really tasty, with plenty of bread and potatoes to fill you up (tip: eat the meat first!). It’s on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for the atmosphere and overall experience.

Classic spot. Easy for big groups. Good food.

We had a pleasant dinner service was nice and everything we ate was tasty, we had waygu on hot stone(not a stone) and raclette both accompanied by a Pinot noir that I couldn't stop drinking.
