Sometimes there are places where everything is focused on the decor and not the food, but here the blend of both makes for a perfect experience, and on top of that, the service is impeccable from start to finish! A must-visit address!

La Calèche restaurant in Chamonix. It's a beautiful restaurant located on the main street of Chamonix. A lovely sign. An all-wood interior. A beautiful mountain decor. You really feel like you're there. Delicious Savoyard fondues with three cheeses, just like in Switzerland. Chamonix prices.

We loved our meal, a delicious fondue in a mountain setting with excellent service. I highly recommend it! It's best to book ahead to be sure of getting a table.

I apologize for the beginning of this review, as it doesn't reflect my experience at all, which was perfect. My wife and I chose this restaurant somewhat reluctantly, as we wanted to eat raclette, but after looking around town and seeing the prices charged by Chamonix restaurants, it was truly highway robbery. Being from the area, we also didn't want a tourist trap. So, we ended up choosing La Calèche because it had the best Google rating. Thank you, Google. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived. We received a superb welcome, and our waitress was very kind, professional, and cheerful, always smiling, even whistling a little sometimes. It was lovely to see someone happy at work. The interior decor is breathtaking; you don't expect all that from the outside. I really love its authentic, old-world charm. Bravo! The raclette was absolutely delicious, with excellent potatoes and charcuterie. My only slight reservation was that the slices were a little too thick for my liking. We had a truly wonderful time. However, I do think that paying over €30 per person for raclette is far too expensive for us, being from the region. But considering the overall experience, the 5 stars in every aspect are well deserved.

23/08/2026: They act like they're doing you a favor by letting you in and assigning you a table. They tell those having dinner and those having coffee to sit in the middle. Overall: The mushroom dessert (cream, berries, and chocolate) was delicious, 10/10. The coffee was delicious, 10/10. My only complaint is that I ordered an iced Americano, which is listed as £2.50 per cup on the menu, but when the waiter brought the bill, it was £7.30 per cup. I asked why it was £2.50, and he said that with ice, it becomes a coffee glacé, which costs £7.30. He showed me the menu, and I said, "But I didn't order it at that price! You can't just make it up!" The waiter then called the manager and pretended to be upset, saying, "Fine, charge me two euros, and I'll pay the rest!" He raised his voice, acting like he was being wronged. The manager apologized and charged us £2.50 for each coffee. Thank you to the manager for his quick response and understanding of the situation. ❤️
23/08/2026: "The food was good, and the service was quick. However, we ordered the escargot, and some of the shells were missing the meat. When we informed the waiter, they just acknowledged it but took no responsibility, offered no solution, and didn’t even apologize. We aren't sure if they thought we were lying or if this is just normal practice here. We really don’t understand this kind of restaurant culture."

22/06/2026: The entire staff (especially Reception) are absolutely FANTASTIC 🎉. Amazingly helpful, knowledgeable and willing to offer guidance. Beautiful views, great location! 5+++ stars. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
22/06/2026: Pros - Friendly, efficient English-speaking staff - Views from the rooms and spa were incredible - Excellent range of options at the breakfast buffet and opened at 06.30 so eat then get out for the day early - Able to use facilities of hotel on day of checkout. We were kindly allowed to use the spa and hotel showers on the afternoon after we had checked out at no additional cost. This meant we were able to run all day and freshen up before heading to the airport. A really nice touch as meant you could maximise time in Chamonix rather than wait for flight home. - Toiletries in the room were good quality (not overstocked so environmental friendly) and able to ask for items free if charge from reception - Great location close to town centre and short walk to bus stops/train station Cons - Mattress was very firm so found it quite uncomfortable (personal preference though) - No aircon: stayed in June and the room was uncomfortably hot to sleep and the road outside was a bit too noisy to leave the windows open overnight to cool things down. It was exceptionally hot weather however so likely a very occasional issue. - Limited hooks in the bedroom for coats etc - Drinks in the hotel bar were expensive - EUR12 for a 1664 Krongenbourg beer. Despite a few small cons, this hotel was absolutely fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
