La Croix Ou Pile sur Beuvry-La-Foret

Beautiful spot in the middle of the forest. Excellent cuisine showcasing local produce, and above all, exceptional service. Highly recommended!

After several previous positive experiences, we were extremely disappointed today, not by the quality of the food, which remained very high, but by the unbearable wait. We arrived at 1 p.m. and didn't receive our starters until around 2:45 p.m.! Some might have given up already. The main courses arrived within an "acceptable" timeframe, but we then had to wait over an hour for our desserts. As for apologies, we're still waiting... just a "we'll do better next time," if there even is a next time... What a shame. To end on a humorous note, don't order French toast; it takes them 3.5 hours to find it. Given the numerous similar reviews, it seems urgent for the owners to take action to restore the quality of service that customers deserve at La Croix ou Pile. I will be checking the reviews before booking next time.

The meal was excellent, but the service was far, far too slow... We arrived at 12pm and dessert wasn't served until after 3pm...

It was a fantastic time at La Croix ou Pile! The steak tartare was absolutely delicious and perfectly seasoned; although it was a little more "cooked" than usual (the "searing" the waitress explained apparently took longer than expected), the flavors were definitely there. I absolutely loved the two-chocolate entremet for dessert: you could really taste the natural and authentic cocoa, it was light and not too sweet. A truly wonderful place to return to!

Beautiful setting in the heart of the forest. Average brasserie. The food is greasy with only one breaded fish option on the menu. The downside is that the menu never changes. It features prawns or pan-fried fish that have more breading than fish. The restaurant has three distinct areas: a cozy veranda overlooking the forest, a wooden alcove with large bay windows, and finally, a fireplace area. All with views of the Marchiennes forest. It's great, but a shame the food quality has declined.
