Very good and the waitress is very friendly

Greatly enjoyed our lunch today at L’Ardoise. The plates (onion soup, filet of beef with delicious sauce) were delicious and the desserts (profiteroles and caramel cœur) amazing. We will look forward to the next visit. AB

We arrived late in Chinon; almost everything was already closed, but we saw L’Ardoise, asked, and they kindly offered us a table. It was a real stroke of luck, as we thoroughly enjoyed their French cuisine made with local produce. The duck breast and the veal with butter from Paris were excellent. The starter, a savory crème brûlée with fresh goat cheese, was also delicious and surprisingly good. The service was superb, and they had a good wine list.

It had been a long time since we'd been to this restaurant. Apparently, it's still the same owners, however, I found the owner's wife very bossy, even putting a napkin on my 18-year-old son's lap 😳 How dare she be so familiar? My daughter asked for her meat to be cooked medium, and she complained that it was overcooked for such a good cut. Excuse me, what's the point of asking how you want your meat cooked if she has her own opinion and refuses to listen? Well, spending nearly €230 and being treated like that isn't so bad; there are other restaurants in Chinon. Otherwise, the dishes were nicely presented, the meat was too thick for my taste—I've had much more tender—and the price was quite steep.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The waitress and owner were very sweet and kind. The food was absolutely top-notch, nothing to complain about, just perfect. A very welcoming restaurant. We've been twice and we'll definitely be back.

Excellent meal, with a special mention for the tender andouillette, beautifully accompanied by five different, carefully prepared vegetables. A place to remember.

From the outside, it looks like a great place, with beautiful decorations and three magnificent awards on the wall (GM). But the food is mediocre, and the service is very chaotic. The meat is tasteless, the plates are chaotically presented, and the dessert is far too much and bombastic. We're asked if we'd like water at the table, which, of course, is charged. Later, water is brought to the table without us asking for it, which then turns out to be free. Upon arrival, we're asked if we'd like a welcome drink. It turns out to be a cocktail for €18. Such things are simply not polite. The only good thing is the escargots. With a bittersweet feeling and a hefty bill of €180 (3-course meal for 2 people with wine), we walked out after two hours.
