L'Atelier Gourmand sur Ascain

This is a very good restaurant. Whether for an aperitif, lunch, or dinner, it's a great place. It's in the center of Ascain, the staff is very attentive, and the food is delicious. Highly recommended!

A Timeless Place in Ascain Since 2025, "Moment Gourmand" has become one of my favorite spots in Ascain. I come here mainly for two unmissable treats: the bone marrow, served still sizzling with delicious bread from the village bakery, and the baby squid, always perfectly cooked. What I particularly love is the atmosphere. When you enter, you discover a simple and welcoming bistro feel… and you don't expect to find a charming, calm, and soothing inner garden behind it. The tables are well-spaced, and you feel truly comfortable—a little corner of timelessness in the heart of Ascain. I've also made it a habit to come in the morning for a coffee on the terrace, facing La Rhune mountain—a truly delightful moment. The open kitchen is a real plus: you can watch the chef at work, the meats sizzle before your eyes… it whets the appetite and contributes to the convivial atmosphere. A fantastic place that I highly recommend!

A truly wonderful place for those seeking authentic cuisine. The regional dishes are excellent, and even the simplest ingredients, like a ribeye steak, are elevated by the chef's skillful selection of local produce. The icing on the cake is the spelt bread served at the table from the local baker, adding a nutty note to this delicious meal. The setting is pleasant and must be even more so in the summer with its private courtyard. And the service, you ask? Exceptional kindness, a warm smile, and helpful advice. A restaurant is a complete experience, and this one truly delivers. Go without hesitation!

Excellent local cuisine The veal axoa was delicious Perfect in every way. We travel in a campervan and often stop for lunch, and this restaurant completely met our expectations.
