04/07/2026: The staff is fantastic, incredibly welcoming and attentive. The food is excellent, the setting is very pleasant, and even outside, smoking is prohibited, which is a nice bonus.

17/04/2026: THE RESTAURANT TO TRY IN ASCAIN!
We stopped by chance one evening in Ascain and what a discovery! The chef was lovely, the food generous and delicious! The txuleton for two was perfectly seasoned, the fries were homemade, the sheep's cheese was excellent, and the pistachio-raspberry fondant was delicious… everything was homemade!
If we're ever back in the area, this will definitely be our next stop!

09/05/2026: A takeaway pizza restaurant with a few tables for enjoying an aperitif while waiting for your pizza. The pizzas are excellent, made with fresh ingredients. The restaurant is located in the center of Ascain, near the market hall, which makes it a pleasant place to stop at the end of the day, especially after climbing La Rhune (up and down). Thank you, don't change a thing!
13/04/2026: This pizzeria is really lovely. The owner and the young chef are charming. It's the first time we've ever finished our pizza, not because they were small (29 cm) but because they were excellent: very thin crust, perfectly cooked, and a refined topping. And to top it all off... a very pleasant atmosphere 😍

08/06/2026: A very pleasant place located on the village square. We enjoyed a delicious tortilla with a nice glass of Basque red wine. The owner even taught us a few words in Basque. We'll be back for our next vacation. Milesker
07/06/2026: Absolutely not recommended for vegetarians. A few thin slices of tasteless cheese (supposed to be goat cheese...), that's all you get for €7! What a disappointment. Even as a vegetarian, I have never eaten worse.

23/09/2024: A service that was much too fast with what was intended to be simplicity, whereas a little more careful service wouldn't do any harm.
We came a few years ago with very good memories of the cuisine, here we realized that it was no longer what it used to be and we therefore left quite disappointed overall.
The sweetbreads are not well cooked, the risotto has too much sauce…
Small positive point for the beef fillet which was very tasty and successfully cooked.
20/09/2024: Top notch hospitality, cuisine and service. The prices are in line with the quality offered. A wider choice of wines by the glass would be welcome.

01/11/2025: We stayed one night at this hotel, and Karmele was wonderful. The room was very comfortable and well-equipped. We slept wonderfully, enjoying the peace and quiet. In the morning, we were treated to a delicious and varied breakfast before our excursion to the Rhune train, which is just a 10-minute drive away.

The room was spotlessly clean
Generous breakfast (cold cuts, cheese, omelet, cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries, bread, butter, jam, Basque cake), coffee, tea, hot chocolate...
A little country corner with a mountain view 🗻..
We stayed for a whole weekend with my family 😊..
It was truly great 👍..
