Le bistrot d'en face sur Valenciennes

Absolutely fantastic. I'd heard great things about it and I wasn't disappointed. I went without a reservation at the last minute, and once I arrived early, and each time they managed to find me a table (one for two and one for three). Each time the service, the welcome, and the food were all excellent. We'll definitely be back.

A wonderful experience; everything was perfect from start to finish: fast service, quality products, and a very attentive team. The young man who served us was very professional. I highly recommend them. Best of luck!

So, I don't usually complain about this restaurant; I've been here many times (birthdays, with friends, etc.). I have to say that the Valentine's Day menu didn't impress me. (The quality/price ratio isn't there, and I say that without malice because I like this restaurant.) I find that compared to what we usually eat here, it's far from what the restaurant does best. I don't recognize the restaurant in the dishes offered today. I put myself in the shoes of a customer discovering the restaurant today; I think they would be disappointed. YET, their usual standard is very different from the quality offered tonight. I advise anyone disappointed on Valentine's Day to give it another chance if the opportunity arises; it's really worth it. Amuse-bouche: I must say I'm perplexed that we were given a choice when selecting our starter and main course (to avoid fish), but that there was a mandatory fish amuse-bouche for each person (even if we don't like fish). The starter: The starter was quite good but lacked character. I received half a portion of barely seared foie gras. My partner ordered the tuna tartare, which, to be honest, was rather good but very simple and far from what we're used to here. The main course: It was good, but again, far from the usual standards. The portion size was far smaller than what they serve daily at the restaurant. I absolutely do NOT recognize the restaurant's "values" that are usually conveyed in their dishes... I'm quite skeptical and disappointed, to be honest. I feel that the experience I wanted to share at the restaurant was somewhat marred. We didn't find a Valentine's Day dessert made by Le Bistrot d'en face, but rather Le Bistrot d'en face made by Valentine's Day. The dessert: Once again, the dessert was good. I don't usually order dessert at this establishment, so I can't confirm whether this one was smaller than usual or not. I should add, however, that I discussed it with a member of staff when paying. It was a constructive exchange, and he listened attentively, accepting the feedback.

Yeah, it's happening as usual. Everything was perfect. The service, the food, the atmosphere, the setting. Note: the moussaka my wife chose was handwritten at €14.90 on the blackboard, but charged at €15.90. A mistake, surely.
