We had booked a table in the main dining room, which is more authentic, but unfortunately our request wasn't honored and we ended up eating in a smaller room. The meal was excellent, and the waitress was very kind and professional! However, it was somewhat spoiled by horrible, deafening background music. What a relief when we finally left! 😅 Please don't do that to us again! 🙏🙏

We had a wonderful family meal at Bruegel. It was my second visit to this restaurant, and it's just as good as ever 😊. The atmosphere was truly warm and inviting; we were seated by the fireplace, which made it even more special! I'm always pleasantly surprised to be able to order Welsh rarebit as both a starter and a main course—after all, why deny yourself something good 😄? The carbonnade was excellent, as were the butcher's cuts. Before leaving, we were able to buy a small pack containing a beer and a glass—a lovely little souvenir to take home! We'll be back 😁.

A beautiful little restaurant with very friendly staff and a very approachable owner who remains calm and collected even under pressure. We visited at the end of August 2026 as a couple and were absolutely delighted by the atmosphere, the warm hospitality, and the excellent food and drinks. We highly recommend "Le Bruegel" to anyone visiting Bergues, but it's essential to make a reservation through the restaurant's website. It's very easy to do, and you'll receive confirmation within a few hours. Otherwise, your chances of getting a table are slim. The restaurant is extremely popular, and each table (as far as I can tell) is only booked once during the evening hours from 7:15 pm to (officially) 9:15 pm. We were among the last guests to leave that evening and stayed until almost 10:00 pm because of my wife's three-course meal, which wasn't a problem at all. ... Those who don't speak French (like us) can get by with a few words of basic school English. They go to great lengths to make the stay as pleasant as possible for non-locals. However, German won't get you very far. This is generally the case in the region, though, and isn't unique to this restaurant. Even days after our visit, I'm still absolutely thrilled and am already looking forward to returning soon. Until then, all the best to the owner and the entire team!

Once again, I'll only say one thing. Go for it.

Looking for authentic Flemish food? This is the place! I came all the way from Carmaux (well, primarily to visit family, of course), and the setting is charming (the waitress too!) and the food is delicious and plentiful. Highly recommended! 👍

Everything is perfect. A must-visit! Homemade products, a superb atmosphere and team... In short, the best!

Passing through Bergues, we were highly recommended to eat at Bruegel. We weren't disappointed (thanks to the team at the tourist office). Although we ordered more than we could eat, the "wesh complet" (a traditional Bergues dish) was simply delicious. We're finishing it tonight. Superb welcome, genuine and warm. We'll be back.

A lovely little pub for a great experience, whether with a group or family. Good local cuisine, made with quality ingredients. Not the most refined, but people come here for the atmosphere. The meats are good, though not exceptional. Fair value for money.
