We had a wonderful evening at Darnétal. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Great care was taken to ensure my partner and I felt comfortable (thank you, Estelle). The dishes were excellent (gravlax, warm oysters, steak, chocolate mousse, and chocolate fondant), and the wine suggestions were very well chosen. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the decor is very tasteful. I highly recommend it!

An experience to repeat. The baked egg was excellent. The lamb shank and sweetbreads were a pure delight. The dessert was a moment of escape to end our meal. An address to remember. Service with a smile, and kudos to the young waiter who is just starting out.

Lovely cosy brasserie in heart of Montreuil. First came here in 1980s but new owners have refurbished completely with an open kitchen. My starter of fresh prawns was very good but my rump steak ‘a point’ was on the dry side. Suggest order ‘saignant’ rather than ‘a point’. Chips with skins on were bit limp, not crispy. The bearnaise sauce was solid not runny. My wife had snails which were ok but her coquille saint jaques main course was excellent. Good wine by the glass. Very good service.

Excellent restaurant. Between the warm welcome, the service, and the delicious food, we had a wonderful time. Plus, the set menu is fantastic; you can even get a regular coffee instead of an espresso at no extra charge. A real treat!

Excellent service Nice setting Food not great: the eggs en cocotte were overcooked, the fries had skins on and were very small, the vegetables were undercooked, and the seafood casserole lacked flavor and was undercooked! In short, disappointing

13/04/2026: We had a wonderful time at this restaurant! The welcome was truly warm, the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the meal. We immediately felt at ease, which made the experience even more enjoyable. And as a bonus, the food was excellent! Delicious, well-prepared dishes that made us want to come back. A place to recommend without hesitation.
21/01/2026: It's always a pleasure to rediscover Mr. Duvivier's flavorful cuisine, long known in the Lille suburbs... here everything is fresh and homemade, so it's normal to wait between courses, and it allows you to savor a good time with friends or family.

Anecdote

02/04/2026: I didn't understand the French Menu (normally I do) - I said I didn;t but there wasn't one person in the restaurant who offerered a word of English, despite my poor French attempts at asking of details of the food. Ended up with some non-descript white fish covered in foam, which seems to be the presentation du jour but offers no additional/complimentary flavour and just hides what lies beneath. Which in this case was what tasted like uncooked black rice and the outer shells of brussel sprouts which if that whisp of vegetation is all they can offer with a dish, means that I'm out of step with noveau French cuising from a 3* Michelin Chef. I'm sorry, the HULK of bread offered to compensate for lack of vegetables, did not impress and the juxtoposition of a hipster (glassware made of recycled wine bottles) joint, within a generic Best Western Hotel... No. Sorry, this was not a hit. Very disappointing.
21/02/2026: Nice, industrial setting. The starter and main course were very good. Fantastic Tarte Tatin!
