Le Vintage Café sur Pau

A meal with friends for a birthday. Perfect welcome, very pleasant staff. A good selection from the à la carte menu. Beautifully presented dishes, fresh and seasonal produce. Our taste buds were delighted. Highly recommended! You can go there without hesitation.

The food was very good, but the service could be improved. The main course and dessert were very good, with a special mention for the dessert, which was truly excellent. However, the meal started somewhat disappointingly. The waiter refused to change the dessert on the set menu, even offering an extra charge, and then also refused to replace the broccoli with a simple handful of fries. It's a shame, as a little flexibility would have been appreciated. I even pointed out that there's no shortage of good restaurants in Pau, implying that this kind of rigidity might discourage us from returning. To his credit, the waiter later made up for it by offering us a plate of fries, a gesture we appreciated.

A new favorite that goes straight into my top 3! We dined there as a couple, without a reservation, and were lucky enough to arrive at the perfect time: a few minutes later, there were no tables left. From the moment you step inside, you're charmed. The decor subtly blends vintage and refined styles, creating a warm and elegant atmosphere. On the plate, a true festival of flavors. We chose two fish dishes: seared bluefin tuna Rossini-style, bold and perfectly executed, and a fillet of black cod delicately accompanied by its bisque. The portions are generous, the cooking impeccable, and each element is perfectly balanced. Special mention goes to the sauces, intense and flavorful, which invite you to savor every last drop (thank you, bread!). The wine pairing, expertly recommended, elevates the experience. As for the desserts, they are just like everything else: generous and indulgent. The service also deserves special mention: an attentive, professional, and responsive team, meticulous about every detail. You truly feel pampered throughout your meal. A wonderful place where I will gladly return to be surprised. Be sure to book!

Every time we've been there, the service has been incredibly friendly, and they've even tried to communicate with us in Spanish, which is so appreciated! (Thanks, Remy!) 😉 They have a great variety of dishes, all delicious, and the prices are reasonable. We'll definitely be back!
