What a beautiful and delicious restaurant! We appreciated the warm welcome, the setting, the service, and the set menu meals served this Friday at lunchtime after leaving the castle! We will be back!

A quiet, shaded terrace, exquisite cuisine, affordable local wines, relaxed yet attentive service, and a beautiful view from the medieval setting. In short, a very pleasant experience; I highly recommend it.

We had lunch today and opted for the €27 set menu (starter, main course, glass of wine, and coffee). Excellent value for money considering the restaurant's standard. The dishes were delicious, refined, and beautifully presented; we thoroughly enjoyed our meal! 😁👌🏻

A very nice place, without a doubt the best value for money in Chinon (with an excellent lunch menu). The cuisine is classic, but always fair and made with love. Go there!!!

This is our second visit, and this time at the new location. What can I say? We were well received, the service was impeccable. However, I find it a shame that the menu sells us a dream and that the dishes end up being different. It doesn't have the same flavor. My first visit, I left excited and happy with the dishes I had discovered. I must say that this time, although the dishes were good, I wasn't blown away.

Fabulous food, beautiful presentation. The service was a bit formal but very correct. Everything was perfect, despite a rather elevated noise level. Maybe the best chocolate mousse I've ever had.

L'Ardoise

04/01/2026: We arrived late in Chinon; almost everything was already closed, but we saw L’Ardoise, asked, and they kindly offered us a table. It was a real stroke of luck, as we thoroughly enjoyed their French cuisine made with local produce. The duck breast and the veal with butter from Paris were excellent. The starter, a savory crème brûlée with fresh goat cheese, was also delicious and surprisingly good. The service was superb, and they had a good wine list.
12/12/2025: It had been a long time since we'd been to this restaurant. Apparently, it's still the same owners, however, I found the owner's wife very bossy, even putting a napkin on my 18-year-old son's lap 😳 How dare she be so familiar? My daughter asked for her meat to be cooked medium, and she complained that it was overcooked for such a good cut. Excuse me, what's the point of asking how you want your meat cooked if she has her own opinion and refuses to listen? Well, spending nearly €230 and being treated like that isn't so bad; there are other restaurants in Chinon. Otherwise, the dishes were nicely presented, the meat was too thick for my taste—I've had much more tender—and the price was quite steep.
