Smiling welcome. The cuisine was truly delicious Lobster menu in all its forms. The service was very good. We had a pleasant evening.

Pour nous amateurs de poissons et autres crustacés et coquillages...l'Hippocampe semblait l'endroit rêvé dans une semaine à Vichy ....sachant qu'ile étaient en vacances la semaine d'avant j'avais réservé 10 jours auparavant pour l'unique soir...le mardi 13 aout ou nous allions nous croiser....!! grande était l'attente ...grande fut la deception...!!! une salle petite et en longueur au bout de nulle part...un soir de pluie après une semaine de canicule... des tables trop serrées et trop petites surtout pour multiplier le nombre de convives...!!! adieu les normes de sécurité et de bien être tout simplement...nous avions demandé le *menu homard*..pour ce chef Breton exilé à Vichy il y a bien longtemps maintenant...sa fille n'est plus en salle...elle est en cuisines avec papa...le service strictement féminin à trois tètes n'est pas franchement convaincant...plats jetés plus que posés sur la table sans commentaire...sans explication...rien...ni service de l'eau...ni service du vin...rien..il n'y a d'ailleurs pas de sommelier là bas...??? ..le plat signature du chef le homard est bien cuit...c'est la moindre des choses...mais la déclinaison en 4 étapes est plus fastidieuse que gouteuse...rythme un peu lent...retour de vacances...addition très(trop ?) élevée....résultat décevant en sortant... dommage !!! on en attendait beaucoup mieux !!!

I was waiting, to give my opinion on the Hippocampe, until the chef had stopped being in love and his dishes had found the balance between tasteless and too salty. Today it's perfect. And it is even more so since we can compare the value for money with Marlène's setting. Which, to stay within the notion of balance, did not know how to situate itself: what is this story of "bistronomy"? We are in a bistro or a restaurant, not in a bistro charging the prices of a star chef!
But back to the Hippocampus.
At the top of the menu, we chose a trip “around lobster” accompanied, as at Marlène, with a Condrieux that is largely as good but half the price. Within a few euros, we are therefore in the same price zone apart from Condrieux.
On the other hand, both in terms of service and especially on the plate, we change the world! I would even go so far as to suggest that we find the emotion of the Rotonde, at the time when Marlène excelled in public relations in the dining room, while the talented second in command worked in the kitchen.
Everything is delicious, inventive and (let's not shy away from the comparison) the opposite of minimalist: at the end of the meal, each guest was entitled, in various forms, to a whole lobster to taste.
In summary, after a little slack due to the change of owner, the Hippocampe has once again become a very good address to advise against to your enemies... But hey, if you don't hate them too much, send them to Marlène: the punishment will be light, and apart from their bank card which will be a bit of a pain given the quality/price ratio, almost painless.

The chef is remarkably talented... Impeccable service...; The first menus allow all budgets to afford a high quality meal (origin of fish specified on the site). Concerning the environment: Constant hubbub as soon as the room is full, tables close to each other...
