Restaurant du trinquet ascain sur Ascain

Get off the beaten track, leave the main square and head towards this restaurant; you won't be disappointed. The talo and marinated pork are must-tries. The wine on offer, a Rioja full of structure and freshness, will complement them with a delicate authority. Much like the owner himself: generous, accommodating, and colorful, just like his cuisine. And, on your way to the restrooms, take a detour to the left with your flashlight to see the municipal pelota court. A memory of a wonderful discovery and a warm encounter, during a stopover (highly recommended in this village) on the way back from Portugal.

We had a wonderful meal... Don't be fooled by appearances; this little restaurant isn't very visible and doesn't look like much, but that's not the point... The menu is simple yet authentic, everything is fresh and homemade. Follow the advice of the waiter-chef who will give you a warm welcome. A delightful experience.

NOT TO BE MISSED!!!! Six Belgian pilgrims loved their visit to this restaurant, served by a virtuoso of fine dining (this charming buccaneer runs the dining room, terrace, and kitchen all by himself!). Phew... one of our favorites of this week's walk! Thank you, Chef, and best of luck; you work with your heart and soul, and it shows. BRAVO!

A hidden gem? We thought so. A really great meal on our trip to Ascain, due to both great food and a wonderful host! Each course was delicious and the owner was incredibly friendly and happy to chat. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely go back next time we visit the area.

What a wonderful discovery this typical Basque restaurant in the village of Ascain was! The local cuisine was homemade and of high quality, the service impeccable, and the welcome incredibly warm. We received exceptional attention from the moment we made our reservation until the end of our meal. We had a very pleasant family meal there. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend it! THE RESTAURANT TO TRY IN ASCAIN! We stopped by chance one evening in Ascain and what a discovery! The chef was lovely, the food generous and delicious! The txuleton for two was perfectly seasoned, the fries were homemade, the sheep's cheese was excellent, and the pistachio-raspberry fondant was delicious… everything was homemade! If we're ever back in the area, this will definitely be our next stop!
