A suspended moment! Great welcome, very pleasant setting. All the dishes, more delicious, a divine homemade parillada. A Basque stopover worth the detour.

Obviously, the two brothers who ran the Mariposa in St Jean de luz moved it to Ascain......and what a good idea!!! What a nice surprise also to discover in this original setting such simple and exquisite cuisine where "fresh" fish is king.....and above all respected and sublimated by sauces, cooking and accompaniments as "magical" as each other. . What a treat also to be welcomed by such a smiling and friendly person (to everyone)...who undoubtedly loves and knows his job....and contact.....which is rare... ..and above all good advice. Thank you and congratulations to both of you for the concept...where one is clearly inseparable from the other...for our greatest pleasure...and the stunning result. See you soon.

In an atypical setting and a subdued atmosphere, half-room, half-terrace, we were first treated to a welcome of rare quality. The kindness, the smile and the time to explain to us the slate where all the products of the auction are located.......which will turn out to be divinely prepared a la plancha and served with unusual accompaniments... ..everything is there to have a pleasant time. The homemade sauces are worth highlighting. And more than reasonable prices. Thank you again for this serene mariposa dinner, which delighted our taste buds. See you soon.

We had a very bad reception. Notwithstanding, based on the reviews, I think he was in a very bad mood last night, not a smile, our choices didn't seem to suit him and the icing on the cake was the question about the casserole which finally made him angry ...at the checkout 🤣. The positive is that it was the “first time” he told us, so delighted to have been his “1st time”. 🤣 Otherwise, it was very good, delicious. We had razor clams, a casserole, which was not one, but delicious, and the fish parillade as well as a chocolate mousse. Everything was very good Thank you for this delicious meal For my part, my message was intended to be filled with humor in view of an inappropriate attitude towards us... I see how important it was for you to justify your "bad guy" behavior as soon as we arrived... fortunately not all Basques are like you. Good day to you.

Restaurant visited one evening at the beginning of July by chance. There were few people there (very calm start to the season it must be admitted). It's a nice surprise. The service is very friendly and relaxed. The room/veranda is small but pleasant. The dishes are very good with quality fish. The prices are correct for the quality. I recommend.
