Maybe mostly for the younger crowd (said by someone who is 73), but there is a great atmosphere and the food is top notch and dogs are welcome. Definitely recommended 😃🇩🇰⛷️🇬🇧⛅️🇨🇵

Great place to eat and drink. Food was delicious and filling after a day on the slopes. Shout out to Viola, Evalina and another lady whose name escapes me for really brilliant service!

Absolutely love this place! Kid friendly (early dinner) the staff are super friendly and attentive - especially with this kids- getting their order in asap! Although the full table was served super quick and fab! Crayons and activity sheets were given to our boys and they loved taking up a bit of space to dance and play (at 6pm it was quiet!) I know they turn on the music/ lights/ party later and we love that too! With a frozen margarita and a babysitter at home 😂😂 Thanks to all the team we will be back again and again!!!

We always have a fantastic experience at Smithy’s Tav in Alpe d’Huez! We eat out with young kids (fussy, noisy, the full package 😅) and the staff are always genuinely kind, patient, and welcoming, which always makes such a difference. The service was great, the food was delicious, and everything came out quickly and fresh. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel relaxed and looked after, even with children in tow... our regular spot for the best burgers in town!

Steak was absolutely lovely. We were a big group yet service was great. All credit to Evelina and Emma. Ignore Fergal. Clearly slow.

Been here a couple times now and it's still excellent. Food is tasty (highly recommend their burgers) and drinks are refreshing. Staff are lovely and look after you very well.

Myself and my mates from Australia travelled to alpe dhuez for the week. We went to smithy’s every night. Service was great and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious every time. Also perfect to watch sport with plenty of tvs and have a perfect angle to watch any sport game no matter where you are in the bar. Also great for a night out with top-notch DJs and live bands. Can’t wait to come back. Cheers smithy’s 🍺 🍔 🪩

Not gonna lie was hella suspicious as an American coming in and seeing ‘Tex Mex’ as the menu description - 100% not Tex Mex at all BUT the food and drinks were still good. I liked the spicy margarita and the buffalo wings the best. We also got the mixed platter for an appetizer + the ribs. Overall decent food for a reasonable price.

A really great hotspot in Alph d'Huez. The food is surprisingly good, and the spare ribs are highly recommended. The prices are very reasonable. The location is nice and atmospheric.

22/08/2025: A real precious gem. Out for one night in the labyrinth that is Alpe d’Huez, you want to experience something special, but be really comforted rather than shocked. Well presented, plentiful and delicious dishes. Lucky the waitress spoke some English, because our French was quite stretched by the Menu… Ordered a mix of steak and chips, plat du jour (chicken vol-au-vent), pasta, fish and chips and something different, which became my highlight as the mum who cooks at home and could use a break: the tataki de thon, now in my all-time top-2 dishes! Choice of desserts: mix of unusual and mainstream, just what you want for a special night. Welcoming host, the type of human you feel you could be friends with - not to be taken for granted in this day and age. Wish we went back to try the other things on the menu.

20/02/2026: We had an absolutely exceptional time at L’Espérance restaurant. The service was simply incredible, undoubtedly one of the best I’ve ever experienced. A huge thank you to Youri, Énora, and Justine, who were outstanding from beginning to end. The dishes were excellent and perfectly executed. The final touches being prepared right in front of us made the experience even more special. We truly felt Youri’s passion; he doesn’t just serve, he creates a genuine experience. The entire team was incredibly attentive and cared for us with care and kindness throughout the meal. From start to finish, it was flawless. A big THANK YOU!
19/02/2026: We ate at L’Espérance restaurant last night, and where do I even begin? It's literally the best restaurant I've ever eaten at; everything was divine! I would say the same for the service, which was simply exceptional! We were seated with a magnificent view, and the staff was welcoming, smiling, and attentive—it truly felt like a family atmosphere. A huge thank you to Justine for her recommendations, to Énora for her time and excellent service, to Marc for his responsiveness, to Lionel and Dave for their good humor, and finally... THANK YOU to Youri for his explanations, his time, and his demonstrations. We learned so much and were delighted to meet someone so passionate and kind! Just wow. A top-notch team and excellent food! I'm giving it 5 stars because you can't give more! Best wishes to all.
