04/01/2026: A delightful discovery in the region, this semi-gastronomic restaurant truly deserves its place in the Michelin Guide. There's a second dining room with a more bistro-style menu, and therefore less expensive, which we'll definitely try sometime. The dishes were flavorful and delicate, with perfect portions. An address to remember.

01/10/2025: Nice little creperie Fair prices, simple, relaxed atmosphere. Ideal for a simple, honest, and reasonably priced meal. We had a liter of draft cider with our meal. If you're looking for a relaxed, fair-trade dinner, this is the place for you. We were among those with a local family with children. We didn't pay much attention to the children's offerings, but it seems to be a restaurant that's relatively suitable for families.

27/02/2026: We were a bit lost in Laon, looking for a nice little restaurant, and stumbled quite by chance upon Le Rétro. And against all odds, the meal was exquisite! Fresh sole pan-fried to perfection for me (€38), Angus ribeye for my partner (€32), who was clearly delighted with his choice. The waitress, Gladys, was absolutely lovely. We'll cherish the memory!

18/02/2026: While passing through Laon, we stumbled upon this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The waitresses were very friendly and welcoming, the restaurant is cozy with a warm atmosphere, and the food was delicious and plentiful! The service was quite quick and efficient, and the prices are reasonable. Plus, there's a lovely view of the cathedral. Absolutely perfect! +1 because they welcome dogs without any problems 😊

20/03/2026: A wonderful discovery in Laon! Le Chenizelles by Le Gaulois is an authentic spot where you immediately feel welcome. The team is friendly and attentive, and Vincent, the manager, is passionate and very present for his customers. On the plate, you'll find quality ingredients, generous portions, and flavorful cuisine. The place has a lot of charm, perfect for a delicious break while visiting this superb medieval city. 👉 A place to recommend without hesitation; we'll gladly return!

10/03/2026: I'd already been to the "old version" of the restaurant... Clearly, the place has gone downhill. Most importantly: we ordered an Angus beef bavette steak... It was... Basic and dry! A bavette steak, frozen fries, an endive leaf. Nothing else, absolutely nothing. So we asked for a sauce: €2 for a small pot of sauce... Yet the service was there: a small pot of olives, bread, a carafe of water upon request. Friendly staff. But they shouldn't neglect at least a spoonful of sauce to enhance the dish and make the plate look nicer. And the frozen fries are disappointing. We're supposed to be eating out, after all! A 2/5 for now, needs to go back.

The place is quite welcoming, the service seems attentive to its customers, the products are good quality for a visually "small" and inexpensive business, the service is quick, and the atmosphere is generally quite calm and peaceful. I had a very good first impression, and some friends and family are delighted with the place. From what I saw, it was relatively clean. I highly recommend it.
