What a disappointment! As long-time customers, the change of chef is going to be difficult. Lunching with friends, we didn't find the same quality, creativity, or generous portions. We also missed the chef's presence, his willingness to interact with customers and share those enjoyable moments of conviviality. It's good that there's a new owner, and it's difficult to take over from a chef with such high-quality professional experience. They should at least try to draw inspiration from what made Château du Bost so renowned. We'll wait for future reviews before deciding whether to return. Best of luck nonetheless.

09/09/2026: Extremely slow service, even though McDonald's and the drive-thru were almost empty. My order was wrong, and when I pointed it out, the manager gestured angrily instead of apologizing. This is a very poor attitude towards customers, especially when you politely point out their mistake.
Mistakes happen, but you have to accept them. From now on, I'll check if the competition is more friendly. The table was absolutely disgusting (all of them) at 7:05 PM, and there was a smell of vomit.
30/08/2026: Tonight I stopped at the McDonald's in Bellerive and placed a click-and-collect order.
After 20 minutes, my order finally arrived. I always checked because several times something was missing.
And then I noticed that the ice creams I ordered were half melted. I went back to complain about the service and encountered the manager, a tall, burly blond man, who told me they weren't melted, that it was the chocolate sauce that made them that way.
After some insistence, he finally remade them, but he was clearly not happy.
Meanwhile, I stood at the counter for almost 10 minutes explaining the situation, and I pointed out to him that there were ice creams and drinks for another order that had been waiting on the counter for at least 10 minutes, since they were already there when we started talking. As they left, I think other people also received room-temperature drinks and melted ice cream. For a €66 meal, the service should be decent. It would be good if this restaurant were inspected by the health department from time to time. For me, Bellerive and Vichy are finished.

08/11/2025: I'm told the bread is good. However, I really felt like I was bothering them. The man was agitated; he took the bread out of the slicer without gloves, dropped slices on the floor, and even though I was spared the 15 cent slicing charge, this grudging, almost aggressive gesture of goodwill wasn't enough to increase my customer satisfaction.
03/07/2025: The sandwiches are very good and especially the raw chicken vegetables are to die for and so good. I really enjoyed the raw chicken vegetables and the service and the smiling staff. I recommend it to everyone.

22/06/2024: Restaurant Japonais raffiné dans un lieu chargé d'histoire pour Clermont Ferrand (l'Hôtel Dieu). La décoration est très moderne et épurée.
02/06/2024: C'est un endroit extraordinaire pour déjuener l'été. Sous l'ombre des catalpas, un repas simple , bon et pour un tarif raisonnable.
L'accueil y est sympathique et le sevice est rapide

09/08/2024: The view from the room is exceptional, amply justifying the three stars awarded to this recently renovated space. On the other hand, access to the rooms in building 2 leaves something to be desired: stairs in poor condition, no elevator, which does not meet the expected standards. In addition, the absence of electrical outlets near the bed in 2024 is surprising and impractical for charging phones.
As for the restaurant, after a disappointing first evening, we preferred to dine on our balcony the second night. Special mention all the same to the butler, very helpful and smiling.
After a day of visiting, we wanted to take advantage of the swimming pool. However, the organization is insufficient for a four-star hotel: to get a towel, you have to cross the restaurant in a swimsuit and go to reception, then repeat the journey once you have finished swimming, which is uncomfortable and impractical. A dedicated pool service would be an asset to improve the guest experience and could even generate additional revenue for the hotel.
In summary, this hotel has the potential to receive more positive reviews, but this requires rehabilitation work and service up to the four stars advertised.
