14/03/2026: An excellent experience! It's one of the few restaurants open off-season in Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, and what a wonderful discovery! The food is delicious and the service is incredibly efficient: we were served very quickly.
Special mention for the honesty and kindness of our server who even ran to catch us in the street to return our forgotten doggy bag! Exemplary service and professionalism, I highly recommend it!

02/12/2025: We were looking for a place to eat after visiting the Pont d'Arc. We found an unusual restaurant with a plane tree growing right through the middle of the building, its branches extending through the roof. The service was quick and friendly. A great place to eat if you're in the area.

While walking across France with my dog 🐶, I stopped at Vieux Vallon in Aubenas and I can't recommend this place highly enough.
Rare hospitality... The owners are simply lovely, kind, and incredibly generous.
They were deeply touched by my physical and personal challenge and even gave me a wonderful gift that truly warmed my heart.
The spirit of the place... You can feel that here, they welcome you with open arms. For a walker, whether long or short, finding such support and warmth is the best fuel.
A superb setting... Beyond the welcome, the site is stunning and perfect for recharging before hitting the road again.
A huge thank you to them for this gesture and for their smiles. If you're passing through the Ardèche, look no further, stop here! 🙏🥾

24/11/2025: I was very disappointed with this restaurant. The service was particularly poor: when I asked how I wanted my steak cooked, the waiter claimed it was no longer possible to choose, citing some supposed new law. Honestly, it felt like they were just trying to make fun of us.
The wait was interminable: almost an hour before we got anything to eat, and during all that time, no one really paid any attention to us. The organization seemed completely nonexistent, and no one on the team was any better than the others.
As for the meal, after all that waiting, it wasn't anything special either.
In short, a very disappointing experience that I definitely do not recommend.
22/09/2025: We entered the patio a bit by chance for a cocktail... and frankly, we don't regret it. Pierrick gave us a warm welcome, directing us to the very unusual room (a former farmhouse) where there are high tables, low tables, chairs, stools, and large benches. The first evening, we kept it simple with mojitos, which turned out to be excellent. For the next three evenings, we left it to Max, the cocktail master, to surprise us with a new drink each time. They were all to our taste, even though we hardly ever drink alcohol. The Mai Tai/Espresso Martini/Jamaican Mule and Raspberry Daiquiri were lovely discoveries, but he wowed us with a cocktail that tasted like a madeleine... (yes, grandma's madeleine).
We will happily return if our travels bring us back to Vallon 😁

30/03/2026: Go without hesitation. Superb, warm welcome. The hotel is well located, away from the noise of the city center; you can do everything on foot. The owners are very attentive and offer excellent advice for all the local attractions. Hearty evening meals are prepared with local produce.

16/04/2026: For our intimate dinner, they took care of every detail. The patio was lovely, the staff welcoming and attentive, and the service very pleasant.
We had a wonderful time enjoying a delicious meal (the charcuterie board was excellent and generously portioned). We will be back.

The food is even worse than a school cafeteria.
The waiter didn't even ask how the meat would be cooked.
The dishes had no flavor.
The fries and the hamburgers were frozen.
The sauce was nothing more than basic, mass-produced ketchup.
The bread probably came from a bakery, but it was dry.

04/03/2026: People are quick to criticize and not very forgiving.
Keep in mind that this is one of the only businesses open all year round, even in winter when everything is deserted! And it's open from very early in the morning until late at night.
01/02/2026: Passing through town, with most (if not all) of the shops closed, we headed to this bakery with its pretty storefront.
A warm welcome and advice on pastries and places to visit in the area.
Gourmet and generously filled sandwiches.
We especially loved the frangipane and chestnut cream pastry!
I'm surprised by the negative reviews, especially since a quick glance at the window reveals that everything is very likely homemade...
