Le Moulin d’Alotz is much more than a restaurant: it's a true gastronomic experience where each dish tells a story.
The common thread throughout the menu is vegetables, elevated with remarkable creativity. Each vegetable is prepared in three or four different ways with each course, offering an absolutely fascinating interplay of textures, temperatures, and flavors. We rediscovered ingredients we thought we knew.
The cuisine is exquisitely refined, precise, and daring. Everything is perfectly balanced, and each dish holds its own surprises. Special mention goes to the sommelier for her advice on the Irouleguy wine, which paired perfectly with the entire meal.
The setting is magnificent, warm, and soothing. The service is impeccable: attentive, passionate, and always ready to share explanations about the dishes.
A rare gem that fully deserves its star and will remain etched in our memories for a long time. We will definitely be back to discover the chef's next creations.
Thank you to the entire team for this exceptional experience.

31/05/2026: A beautiful old building which has sadly gone to ruin. Clearly the owner does not want to spend a cent on basic maintenance and upkeep. It was sweltering and the ducted aircon does not work so we had a portable air-con unit in our room which vented to outside through our open balcony door hence making it completely redundant. The mini bar did not work, the pillows were a million years old, the beds were not comfortable and the shower head could not be fixed to the wall.
The pool was green, full of algae and mould and clearly hadn't been cleaned or used for a long time. The gym completely unusable.
It's heartbreaking as the building and grounds are gorgeous.
I would not stay here. Find another hotel in town.

27/05/2026: The restaurant's terrace is in a very pretty square. Period. Everything else was bad. The waitress's service was among the worst I've ever received. The food was bland, and the flavor relied solely on the sauces. Despite choosing from a page that listed four starters and four main courses, and a box specifying "€20 menu: starter, main course, and coffee," we were ultimately charged for individual dishes. When we protested, they told us that wasn't the menu, that the menu was on a small chalkboard at the hotel entrance—20 meters away, across the street! Of course, we were never informed of this. Finally, the manager's reaction was unpleasant, rude, and defiant; she was shouting most of the time. In short, we paid €60 for two mediocre set menus instead of the €40 listed.
21/05/2026: We ate on the restaurant's terrace, and the food was terrible. It wasn't good quality, and it was incredibly expensive. The service was awful; they took ages to attend to us and even longer to serve us. We practically had to digest between courses. I definitely don't recommend it. If you come to town, go to the main square; there are several much better options.

Big downside on the cellar which overprices some popular references. I stocked up there every year. It's over

30/05/2026: A great place to relax. The restaurant offers excellent suggestions at a very reasonable price for very good food. We asked for something extra for breakfast, and they did, even though we were only there for two days... A great place to recommend!
29/05/2026: A wonderful stay in a beautiful setting with a park and a magnificent view.
We were welcomed by a lovely and very professional young couple.
The air-conditioned room had individual temperature controls (35°C during our stay). It was very comfortable and very clean, with excellent bedding. A nice touch was the tea, coffee, and mineral water provided in the room.
The restaurant is very pleasant, and the food is absolutely delicious. Kudos to the chef and his team! The service is impeccable. The owner and the waitress are very friendly and attentive. Fine dining in a welcoming, family atmosphere.
Breakfast was perfect, with everything you could want.
A big thank you to the chef for his efforts in adapting the meal to our dietary restrictions.
A huge congratulations to this courageous young couple!
I highly recommend it.
