09/03/2026: A heads-up for cyclists on the Vélomaritime route: First bike ride of the year, spring is just around the corner! And since we have some personal time to spare, we chose Cap Hornu, a rather chic spot, apparently, but listed on the Vélomaritime website. Booking made, I received confirmation by phone that bike storage was available. It costs a bit, but the promise is there. First ride: 37 km of trails to reach Cap Hornu. The setting is magnificent, with an English cottage feel, old stone buildings, greenery by the water, and promising signs for the on-site restaurant: it looks promising... Hotel review: the staff is very welcoming, professional, and attentive. My room, however, is quite small, and my mezzanine bed didn't allow for a peaceful night: recent renovations have left a very strong smell of fresh paint that's quite overpowering... It's very unpleasant... There's no effective soundproofing either: from the room, my neighbor was snoring loudly. Very loudly... Too loudly... So: I had to open the skylight to block out the strong smell and bravely deal with the snoring... On the other hand, the restaurant in the evening: the staff was excellent, the food was excellent, and the bar was excellent, especially with its superb selection of local beers. The restaurant is a cornerstone of this place: the dishes are excellent and refined. Breakfast is also very satisfactory, although I have some doubts about the quality of the pastries, which seem to have come from the freezer rather than a bakery (which would be the bare minimum at this price point). The local products are there, however, and very good. In short, a great setting, a nice service, but nothing to write home about considering the price. Regarding the connection to the VéloMaritime cycle route: somewhere between so-so and terrible. Upon arrival, we were directed to a secure bike storage area (great, we could leave our panniers and equipment in a safe place). Well, no: the bike storage area isn't a bike storage area at all. It's not secure (the door doesn't close), there's nothing to lock the bike to, nothing is provided for cyclists, and it's only used to store tables, chairs, safes, or parasols... The young woman at reception didn't even know what a bike storage area looked like. So, this place is bike-friendly on the VéloMaritime route because it rents bikes to tourists, but in no way because it offers anything extra for passing cyclists. Besides, cyclists aren't the target market for this hotel, which has a different clientele. Everything is fine, except for the bike facilities... So, a very mixed review for cyclists, but classy for people in Porsches. I'm available for passing cyclists (I think there are much better options for us in the area). It's a very good place if you don't expect any specific services for the passing cyclist who doesn't mind the neighbor's snoring, the limited space, and the complete lack of extra services for a cyclist who wants at least basic security.
More reviews to come for the Bay of Somme, regarding establishments listed on the Vélomaritime website.
UPDATE following the establishment's response: you advertise a bike room (it says so on the door) which isn't actually one. The young woman at reception gave me a magnetic card for access even though there's no way to swipe a card. She didn't know this and was surprised... When I called beforehand, they confirmed it was a secure, enclosed space. Finally, the bike rack is indeed there, in a place where everyone passes, and without any security measures... A cyclist like me appreciates having their bike secured. Therefore, I stand by my opinion for cyclists on the Vélomaritime route: this hotel is not for us! As for the hotel: I don't think you need this type of clientele.
05/03/2026: This is our fourth stay as a family with a child at the Hôtel du Cap Hornu in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme. We've never been disappointed. The hotel is extremely well located, a little outside the town, with an incredible view of the Bay of Somme. The premium ground-floor rooms are comfortable and spacious. On the recommendation of the person at check-in, we booked dinner at the hotel restaurant. We were a little surprised because the menu offered absolutely no dishes suitable for children. From chicken stuffed with morels and cod with braised endive to an enormous beef fillet (220g!) with port sauce and scallops with artichokes, none of the dishes were kid-friendly, not even for the pickiest eaters. We then asked if it would be possible to at least replace the braised endive with the cod with rice or boiled potatoes, or even order a simple omelet. We were told that the chef didn't want to bother with such requests (sic!). At €55 per person for the set menu, this is hardly acceptable! We weren't necessarily asking for a children's menu of nuggets and fries, but at least simple dishes that all children would enjoy. This is all the more regrettable since the hotel specifically offers 3- or 4-person rooms for families and the grounds are particularly well-suited to children.
So we left the restaurant and went back into town to Le Jardin, which offers original and refined dishes, far from the simple steak and fries, but adapted for children (for example, the traditional sausage and mashed potatoes reimagined as Morteau sausage and Aligot). It just goes to show that where there's a will, there's a way; it's not so complicated. We will be left with this somewhat disappointing experience which will make us think twice about where to book next time before returning to St Valery.

09/02/2026: We had a wonderful stay at this hotel.
The welcome was very pleasant, which is so welcome these days. A lovely little touch from the person who greeted us 🙏👌. The restaurant was excellent with delicious food (I'm a caterer and I honestly really enjoyed it). The location is ideal, and there's a lovely market on Sunday mornings.
I highly recommend it.
26/01/2026: My wife and I had a wonderful stay.
From the welcome to the meals and the overnight stay, the staff were incredibly attentive.
The hotel's location is perfect for lovely walks. The only downside is that all the city's parking is paid (even on Sundays). However, the hotel offers a discount.
I highly recommend this magnificent place (both the building and the food). We will be back.

25/01/2026: Outrageous price!
€8 for a sausage and fries
01/01/2026: The chip shop doesn't look like much, but the fries were edible and the man serving was friendly. However, the price of €4 is really excessive for such a tiny portion of fries (the equivalent of what you'd get in a baby pack for €1.50 elsewhere).
