Wanting to extend a get-together with friends, we decided to brave the Marseille chill in search of a warm and inviting spot to satisfy our appetites.
We did a little research on classic dishes before finally being tempted by a hidden gem in the Plan de Campagne shopping area: L’Instant Braisé!
No beating around the bush, the concept is simple and brimming with common sense: a menu of meats cooked over an open flame 🔥
We were greeted without hesitation by our host for the evening. Far from being pushy, he showed us to our table. The cozy dining room opens onto the kitchen like a country house with its fireplace. The menu isn't extensive, which saves time. We took advantage of the moment to turn up the heat with an appetizer: a charred Camembert.
For the main course, I'm practically bursting with anticipation at the thought of enjoying a delicious flank steak with a potato gratin, dauphinoise-style.
What I can say right away is that the prices are more than reasonable and the bill isn't likely to break the bank 💸
But let's not get ahead of ourselves and get to what's coming to the table 😁
The Camembert is a delight to savor. It's served with croutons, allowing you to enjoy this little milky bundle without any smokiness.
The stars of the evening don't keep us waiting and arrive a few minutes later.
While not gargantuan, my dish is perfectly portioned. A fan of precise cooking, my meat is cooked exactly how I like it. Despite a subtle smokiness, it's still very tasty.
Our host goes above and beyond to make our experience as pleasant as possible: bringing us to the table, refilling our water and bread, and always with a smile!
Eager to prolong the moment, we indulged in dessert. My heart went out to the French toast. No nibbling required; my dessert warmed the final moments of this dinner 😁
With an average bill of €24 for a main course and dessert, it's hard not to be thrilled at the prospect of spending a cozy evening at L'Instant Braisé 😊👍
In short: impeccable service and unpretentious cuisine, not particularly dazzling, but perfect for a truly memorable evening!

16/02/2026: First time at this restaurant and I have absolutely no regrets. The place is lovely, the welcome warm, and the staff very friendly. And the food? It was delicious! From appetizer to dessert, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The cocktails were quite good too!

21/02/2026: A huge thank you to Marie, who served us with a smile despite a rather complicated and lively table for a birthday celebration, and on top of that, a large group! 😅 The dishes were perfectly fine, with a special mention for the gratin dauphinois, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
There was a slight hiccup with the payment, but everything was sorted out thanks to the help of Amine, the manager, who showed great patience. Thank you both for your warm welcome and professionalism.

My father ordered an expensive ribeye steak, which was unfortunately full of gristle. At that price, one expects better quality.
I ordered a medium-rare hanger steak. The plate arrived practically raw. I pointed this out, it was sent back to the kitchen… and came back still undercooked. I had to send it back a second time to finally get it cooked the way I wanted. This is unacceptable.
The presentation was very basic (see photo): fries carelessly placed on the plate, a plate full of juices, and no attempt at presentation.
But the most shocking thing was the complete lack of any gesture of goodwill. When a dish is sent back to the kitchen twice, the least they could do is offer a small gesture (even just a free drink). Nothing was offered.

We were thrilled but left disappointed, and I think we weren't the only ones. The aperitif didn't even include one toast per person, and it was low quality. The salmon gravlax starter wasn't actually gravlax. The main course was steak with sautéed potatoes, which was just enough for New Year's Eve at that price, and for those who ordered the fish, the risotto was just mushy rice. The red wine came in a bottle that had previously held rosé; we expected a sealed bottle for that price. There was no cheese, and the dessert was just a tiny yule log. One clementine for eight people. The service was incredibly slow. A bottle of sparkling water cost 10 euros. The music was too loud. The dance floor was cramped.
On the plus side, the waiter was very pleasant.

All in a relaxed atmosphere, a welcome change from noisy fast food places!
I highly recommend the milkshakes, they're truly excellent!
29/03/2026: Always good quality products, a fast food place that stands out a bit in Plan de Campagne! I just find it a shame that they removed the vinegar fries from the menu and that some burgers are dripping with grease, but that's what we come for 😅

04/04/2026: As a very regular customer even before this new restaurant opened, I'm very disappointed with my last two visits in March/April, the most recent being on April 3rd at lunchtime.
We encountered the same employee twice (a young woman with very pale skin and several piercings), and her attitude is truly unacceptable: cold, unpleasant, no smile, and a constant feeling of being a nuisance.
Furthermore, she makes mistakes with orders and reacts badly when we point them out.
Regarding the food itself, the portions she serves are clearly less than what is usually served, whether it's the young blonde woman, Sandra, with whom we've become friendly, or the two Asian employees who have been there for years, or even the owner, whom we've had the opportunity to watch making our sandwiches.
It's a shame because this doesn't reflect the standard of the other employees at all, who are generally professional and very friendly. Please try to rectify this situation, because I think this type of experience, and this lack of humanity and customer service skills, could cause you to lose a large part of your clientele.
29/03/2026: I placed my order and wanted to pay with holiday vouchers. The waitress told me she didn't accept them. I said no problem, I didn't have anything on me to pay with, I lived far away and I was making the round trip. But before I left, she told me I had to pay part of the order. I had 15 euros on me. I paid part of the order.
I came back 45 minutes later.
The waitress didn't even say hello.
And she told me, "Because of you, the till was blocked for 35 minutes." At that point, I got angry, I was unpleasant, I spoke rudely. It's not my problem that her till was blocked, actually. It's an organizational problem on your part.
And then the other cashier came to tell me, "I'm embarrassing my community!" Even though, out of respect for my community, I came to pay for my order. How do you explain waiting 45 minutes for 3 sandwiches? Nobody would do that. Mr. Manager, look at the cameras and teach your employees that customers are consumers and that everything must be done to retain them and not drive them away.

15/03/2026: We went there once, and we won't be going back! The service was ruined by a restaurant attendant who kept coming to the buffet whenever we were serving ourselves! She'd pretend to straighten the dishes right in front of/inside/next to us. She even had the nerve to take the ice cream scoop out of my teenager's hand while she was rinsing it to get a different flavor. It was truly outrageous, thinking we were going to eat in a relaxed atmosphere and have a pleasant time! But no, we felt spied on by this very unpleasant old woman! What's more, while we were seated, the staff stayed outside our table chatting and waiting to clear the tables in the dining room. The food was mediocre, the fried fish was very tough... We had already paid before sitting down, otherwise we would have left. Avoid this place if you want to eat and share a pleasant moment with your loved ones without feeling spied on, watched, and bothered in a restaurant.
05/03/2026: Avoid this restaurant! Expensive, not enough variety of products, poorly cooked, greasy floor. It's a shame we can't give it 1 star. I won't be back.
