The dishes are nothing special!
The mixed drinks are best avoided.
The staff is pleasant, but the food took a long time to arrive.
Management has chosen to remove pork from the menu to attract a certain clientele, therefore I am removing this establishment from my list.
25/07/2026: Despite a bit of a wait, the meal was very good! Special mention to the spring rolls, which were incredible!
I recommend it.

06/08/2026: We settled down here at 7 pm for a light meal. We ordered haddock with risotto and paprika, and confit de canard. It was served in a small oven dish with a side salad. Delicious flavor. And the Sauvignon with it was fine too! Very good value for money. Tasty ice cream for dessert.
06/08/2026: Everything was delicious and fresh, from the mojito to the salad and the croque monsieur. Quick and friendly service. Excellent value for money.

09/07/2026: I just bought some barely edible spring rolls... they didn't look very fresh and had very little filling besides rice noodles... The shrimp were cut into extremely thin slices and had no taste. Plus, the staff's friendliness must be optional.

26/07/2026: The chef is fantastic, super friendly, and chatty with his wife and kids too. Nothing to complain about, a really great place, I highly recommend it. The pizzas are generously topped and absolutely delicious, impeccable! 😉👍🏽

31/07/2026: A friendly, family atmosphere. We started with excellent homemade tuna rillettes, followed by mussels and fries paired with a delicious white wine from the Charente region. Reasonable prices.
We'll be back.
28/07/2026: Cannot fault this establishment. Very friendly service from the moment we arrived, we did not have a recommendation but were welcomed in. We had the menu du jour all of which was the best food we have had on our week stay in the area. Welcoming and homely vibe but with top tier food, drinks and service.

Good pool and an amazing restaurant for dinner. Service was great in the restaurant and reception too.
Unfortunately we faced a really rude lady in the breakfast room. She made us feel like we were for some reason not good enogh to visit her hotelbreakfast. The woman left us feeling strange and for that reason we had to take on star away from this otherwise lovely and beautiful hotel…
02/06/2026: We have stayed here before, the hotel is lovely in a fantastic location. However, this time we just had dinner. They've reduced the menu, and it's not as good. Happily the staff are still attentive and friendly. The location by the river, where you can enjoy drinks on the lawn, is perfect. Please Mercure: review your menu.

23/08/2026: A lovely spot on Rochefort's marina. Equally pleasant on the terrace and inside, it's cozy and bright. Generous portions and delicious cuisine. Friendly and attentive staff. Good value for money.
23/08/2026: We ate as a family (8 people) on a superb terrace despite the unpredictable weather. All the staff were excellent.
The owner was very kind and approachable, and really took the time to chat with her customers (which is very rare these days).
As for the food, from the appetizers to the desserts, everything was a delight for the taste buds.
And the children's menus, with fish and meat options, were incredible.

03/08/2026: The restaurant is located in the charming setting of the Royal Rope Factory. The terrace is very pleasant. The food is good quality, but the daily special was a little small. The servers were overwhelmed, which caused a long wait before our order was taken, but after that, it was quick. Overall, a good experience for a reasonable price.

18/08/2026: The food: The food was simply inedible. The ingredients were woefully unfresh, the seasoning was nonexistent, and the cooking was a complete disaster. You're practically guaranteed food poisoning with every bite.
The service: A frosty welcome and appallingly amateurish staff. Slow, haughty, and visibly annoyed by the mere presence of customers.
Hygiene: Cleanliness was appalling, from the sticky tables to the disgustingly filthy restrooms.

15/02/2026: I'm giving it three stars because the atmosphere is gloomy and the person serving you has no conversation whatsoever, not at all the approach of a local shopkeeper; they're an automaton with no expression or smile. You'd think you were dealing with funeral home staff. Worth seeing... 😏🥺🫥😱
