18/06/2026: Family run, rooms are very clean, the way they restored the room is delightful, the fixtures are high end, bed is very comfortable, food and wine excellent, try the local craft beer, lots of parking and the young lady managing everything is passionate and friendly. Good find in an otherwise slightly barren but bucolic area!
04/06/2026: The most helpful and wonderful people we met during our journey in France.
Long story short: I injured my leg, and while driving back home, our car broke down near Ussel. As we urgently searched for a place to stay, we ended up at the Grand Hôtel—and it turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to us.
François helped us with absolutely everything: communicating with the workshop, finding local services, and, most importantly, providing us with a charming and comfortable place to stay. His kindness and support helped us cope with all the unexpected problems that suddenly came our way.
The hotel has been beautifully renovated, the rooms are comfortable, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
To my mind this hotel could be a perfect base for exploring the beautiful surrounding region.
A million thanks to François and the entire team for their hospitality, professionalism, and genuine care. We will never forget your help during a very difficult moment of our trip.
Highly recommended!

02/09/2026: We came yesterday at lunchtime and received a warm welcome. The dishes were well-presented and very good. The fries were homemade and not salty. We just found the salad dressing a little too spicy for our taste. Otherwise, I recommend it and we will gladly return.

26/06/2026: I hadn't been back for over a year, very disappointed by my last lunch there, but today, since I was arriving to do my shopping at noon, I decided to try the set menu.
And I'm so glad I did. It was excellent and a generous portion. A seafood casserole served with broccoli, carrots, and rice, followed by a delicious dessert (fruit salad, chocolate cream, yogurt cake) for €15.90
(€17.90 if you also order the starter, which was a melon medley). So, I'm going to happily resume my lunches/shopping trips here.
My second visit was this Wednesday with a friend, and unfortunately, most of our potatoes were raw, and a few others were so burnt they were inedible.
We reported it, but the second batch wasn't much better. What a disappointment!
But the service is still very pleasant, with a young woman who is attentive and smiling.

14/09/2026: I had a few beers with two really nice guys, the man behind the bar was super friendly and a true proprietor, the kind you don't see anymore (a bald man, I can't remember his name, sorry). I was just passing through to look at some houses in the area. We're arriving in the region at the end of October, but I'll definitely be back. Great atmosphere, no pressure, great music. An "old-school" bar, but the kind of bar you want to last forever because they're the best, actually!
28/08/2026: The bar closes too late, and the customers are a nuisance until all hours, even when you're a bit away from it.

In short, a wonderful location and a great experience.
We were a group of cyclists staying and eating... the hotel staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful and accommodating.
Would absolutely return with a group or solo.
Thanks to everyone who made it such a great evening!
03/06/2026: The hotel was excellent, the room spacious with all the necessary comforts for a pleasant stay.
The food was very good, the menu changed daily and was very varied, featuring homemade cuisine.
The staff was very welcoming and friendly.
I've been coming here for work for a long time and I'm never disappointed.
I recommend Les Gravades.

31/08/2026: Today, August 30th, I came to get a sandwich, like I used to. It was deplorable; the service was appalling and the place wasn't very clean. The waiter broke a display case, and shards of glass fell onto the food. I ordered two croissants cooked exactly as I saw them in the display case, and he went to get others from elsewhere that weren't the same (overcooked). Then I ordered a lemon tart and an exotic cream. He put everything in a small carrier bag, but upright. The exotic cream was all mixed together, and the lemon tart was ruined, the cream still in the bag. This is the first time in 60 years that I've seen such poor service, especially since this shop used to be good; now it's a complete disaster. I'm well-known in the area because I used to own a restaurant, now retired, so I'm not making this up.
27/07/2026: Unable to serve meal deals in a reasonable timeframe (over 45 minutes to be served). The staff are clueless, and the manager only takes action after 30 minutes. The bakery is dirty, and the service is truly appalling.
